Hi , i would like to know which of these cards is better choice for 350w psu with amd 3200+ proc 2.2ghz
1. 8600gt
2.hd 4670
3.9600gso
4.9500gt.

also i dont want to upgrade the psu , please let me know which one of the cards will work properly on my system . i am confused between 4670 and 9600gso. if they are not compatible i will go for the 8600gt.

maybe 8600GT.

if you are using 350W PSU from Corsair and Tagan, all four cards will work. For PSU's from iball/zeb/mercury, 8600gt and 9500gt may work

i think its some local brand psu , as it is an assembled machine and quite old , i should go for 8600 gt as its cheaper and also i hv heard 9500gt is just 8600 will another name . Also can i run latest games smoothly on 8600 gt at med resolutions.?

yep. 9500GT is more or less the same as 8600GT. But it is lot faster than the 8600GT.

reason is that it is build on a better fab and has superior architecture.

HD4670 takes 207 Watt under load and so, it's certainly not recommended.

I have HD2600XT (takes around 200W under load) and I had to get a 400W PSU to keep the system stable. My old 350W system used to give problems like some device (soundcard/HDD) stops working due to inadequate power.

AFAIK, 8600GT too takes 180-200W.

HD 4670 Requires only 10-70W so I think HD 4670 will run just fine.

Check this guide for graphics card power consumption :

10-70W??? are you joking???

that page says that HD2600XT uses only 21W-28W-49W. That's totally untrue. I had to change my PSU to 400W as 350W PSU was not able to provide enough power.

1st of all I'm not Joking. Looks like you just confisued things up.

One Question - Where from you learn that HD 4670 consumes 207W.

PCI-E slot can deliver only 75W max. If 4670 consumes 207W ! how can it run without a additional power adapter ??!!

Is it the the GFX card alone or the whole rig including mobo, cpu & other peripherals.

Take a look at here :

According to this Radeon HD 4670 (512 MB) consumes 14.0W in 2D mode & 56.9W in 3D mode.

Radeon HD 2600 XT (512 MB) uses 18.1 in 2D mode and 54.4W 3D mode.

As for his Rig assuming :

AMD 3200+ consumes 65W
Mobo Consumes 20W
HDD Consumes 15W
DVD Drive Consumes 10W
Rams ( 2 pcs ) consumes 6W
HD 4670 Consumes 70W

So the total consumption is 186W.

If a generic PSU can deliver atleast 65% of it's rated current it woul be 227.5W.

Now if the PSUs 12V rail has amp rating of 16A it would deliver 192W which is enough.

@desiibond
lol, some say 8600gt uses only 70w at load and some reviews as 170w as u said, gfx power usage tests r always confusing:)

Dude no gfx card without a addtional power adapter can consume more than what
PCI-E slot deliver which is 75W

He's rite, it's MAX TDP for HD4670 is 50W in real.

HD4650 is about 40-45W and that's y I suggest HD4650 for Rs. 4800.

No wait, go for the HD4650.

It now costs 4.4k, and it doesn't make sense to buy a 5% faster HD4670 for 5.5k.

The Sorcerer

oh wow...Xenforo!!!
Before we continue ahead- very few local psu run as what is mentioned in the psu specs. A 100w psu is badged as 400w, dont expect 350w or higher than 400w any different. efficiency, ripple and protection comes into place. Not that I am scaring the OP, but one should be cautious. More than half of the problem happens because of the power input- especially in India.
Goes without saying- desiibond first google then let us know if one is joking or not. No pun intended but there have been lot of incorrect info that you give to many.

Thats really make sense.

But I thought 4670 is the only best performaning card compared to all gfx cards which doesn't need external power connector.
