Hullo Guys!

Well I've been listening to Series 60, 70, 80 among the Nokia phones for a long time now but never put a thought to it as to what it means actually.
So this is the question for now, tell me in detail about this thing!
The idea came when I recently bought a new 6670. Its in the 60 Series.

Waiting for your replies.
Zaib.

they mean the various version of symbian operating system

they are incremental with increment in functionality

the comman ones like 6600, ngage and others are symbian 60

the older ones like 6610 6100 7620 are series 40

i havent heard abt series 70 but the series 80 are the new generation smartphones

you may want to visit *www.symbian.com for more information

No raven, comumunicators are series 80 phones and not series 90. They have series 7 OS. The smart phones include 9500, 9300 etc...

6600 are symbian 60 phones and even they have series 7 OS only.

Difference between series 40 and 60:
1. We can't install much apps in these types of mobiles.
2. series 40 phones have less resolution and hence the interface will seem faster than that of the series 60 phones.

Now series 60, 80 and 90:
Series 60, 80 and 90 are the same with the exception of different UI. From a developers (eg. nokia ) perspective these differentiated developer platforms mean, to any minor changes or extra work. It's like just using windows media player 9 or 10 like that, more major changes but there may be some small changes here and there....

Less resolution? What exactly do you mean by that?

There are tons of apps for Series 40 too mostly games. They can run a lot of games-slightly scaled down versions of N-Gage games.

^^ lesser resolution than series 60 phones....

And plz see my post clearly, we cant' have "much" or as much as apps as we get for series 60 phones. And as u said, they are mostly java games.

I just wanted to know what you meant by lesser reolution :D

If you meant in terms of screen quality then I'm afraid you are wrong. In fact, Nokia is cramming 208x208 in the 6230i screen even though the physical size is still the same as it was in the 6230. So other than the smartphones like Communicator series/P910i/7710 etc. this is amongst the highest resolution available.

If you meant something else, well, then that's what I wanted to know :p

128 x128 pixels or 208x208 is not the issue was i taking abt.
Ok, i all wanted to say that if we take some image and keep that as our wallpaper to 6610 and 6600, then the wallpaper would look good in 6600.
The resolution i was taking to tell is the ability of the phone to show finer details, and it may be related to pixels , but the quality of the picture differes in series 40 and 60 phones :D

Lol, raven was correct in saying that 6610 is a series 40 phone. He just got confused between 90 and 80 series. As far as i know , there are no series 90 phones by nokia as yet, even 9500,9300 runs on series 80 only.

Who was taking abt 3230? We all know abt it and it's a symbian phone.
