Upgrade CPU for 20 K

1. What is the purpose of the computer? What all applications and games are you going to run?
Ans:
Gaming -Games like Battlefield 3/4,Bioshock 3, Batman Arkham City(on medium settings),Watching Videos in 720P(Monitor is not full HD.. )


2. What is your overall budget? If you can extend a bit for a more balanced configuration, then mention this too.
Ans.
Just want to upgrade my CPU for 20K(its my max budget)

3. Planning to overclock?
Ans: Not sure, Might do it later.

4. Which Operating System are you planning to use?
Ans: Windows 7

5. How much hard drive space is needed?
Ans: Already have 500GB should be enough.(i'll buy an external if required later)

6. Do you want to buy a monitor? If yes, please mention which screen size and resolution do you want. If you already have a monitor and want to reuse it, again mention the size and resolution of monitor you have.
Ans:No i already have a LG monitor which supports 720P resolution.I'll probably stick to this only.

7. Which components you DON'T want to buy or which components you already have and plan on reusing?
Ans: Speaker, Mouse,KB,Monitor,Cabinet(if possible currently using some iball's cabinet,if reqired i'll change it)

8. When are you planning to buy the system?
Ans: Around 1-2 weeks


9. Have you ever built a desktop before or will this be done by an assembler?
Ans: I know someone who will do it for me.

10. Where do you live? Are you buying locally? Are you open to buying stuff from online shops if you don't get locally?
Ans: Mumbai, probably lamington road.

If budget allows then choose antec vp450p at 2.6k instead or antec bp300

+1 for this configuration. FX-4300 + HD 7750 config is better suited for gaming requirement. However, I suggest OP spend 1K more and get that VP450 PSU.

FX 6300 - 7.3k

difference between price is not much(merely 800 bucks) but the performence has very big difference.
So go for 6300

I think FX 4300 along with HD7770 is better suited for gaming.

Guys I currently have the following Config.
Processor: Intel i3 530 2.9ghz
MotherBoard: Intel DH55TC (XU1)
RAM:Transcend 4gb DDR3 @665 Mhz
GPU: galaxy Nvidia 8400 GS
HDD: Seagate 500 GB
Using the PSU which came with the cabinet.
Are you'll suggesting me to dump my full old config and buy all new hardware??(can none of the old hardware can be used,like the processor or the motherboard)

Also i'm getting HD 6870 from a friend of mine for 9.5k(New Sealed),will that support to the config which you guys provided???

Buddy, the processor of yours is based on 1st Generation Core series or Nehalem architecture which is already discontinued by Intel and needs a different socket motherboard (LGA 1156) which does not support any 2nd Gen or 3rd Gen Core series Processors. So with any new upgrade, you have to dumb the Processor/Motherboard. You can sell them to fetch some money and keep the other components like Ram and HDD.

Now regarding Graphics card, 9.5K is too high for a HD 6870. Spend a little extra and get a GTX 650 Ti Boost @ 11K from Zotac which is far more powerful than 6870 and has lesser power consumption.

if you are planning to change the processor itself then go for it,
Intel 3.33 GHz LGA1156 Core i5-661
your MB supports only 1st gen processors..

As suggested by cilus you have to change the MB and CPU for better performance..
if you want to change the MB and CPU within 20K.. then go with the following..
Intel DH61WW - 3.8k
Intel 3.4 GHz LGA1155 Core i5 3570K - 14.5K

don't suggest a H61 mobo with a core i5 like cpu .. if Op gets a i5 3570k he can go with Intel DZ75ML-45K instead.
