system restarted during drive scan.now not working

ok so same problem started again
cannot access it in linux(same error as ebefore)
and in cmd im getting cannot directly access the volume error when trying to use chkdsk J: /f.
do help guys

did you use 'run as admin' when you ran the command prompt???

Now it sounds like a partially corrupt hdd, although I'm not totally sure.

well, try running it from mini-XP from Falcon Four boot cd

FalconFour’s Ultimate Boot CD/USB 4.5 « FalconFour’s Perpetual Musings

if this doesnt work, nothing will.

ok so somehow managed to get it working a bit.so now i have a 150 gb partition that seems to be working fine and the remaining 780 gb is in anotehr aprtition
but i cant seem to farmat it.it says windows cant format it

try making an image of the partition...format that particular partition to resolve the file system issues...not sure if this would help...

check it out if its relevant

try formatting using command prompt...this works when windows format method fails.

else use partition wizard home (a free tool but good one)
