Hi,
My system does not boot, the BIOS is hanging at Loading of bootloader stage.
once i remove my newly replaced SATA hdd the system boots fine and does not hang anymore. after removing the HDD i can also boot via Bootable CD.but the PC does not start if HDD is plugged in.

My system specs:
AMD Athlon 64 3000+
MS K8MM-V
1GB Drr 400Mhz Ram
Nvidia Geforce 6200
80 GB sata hard drive ST380815AS

Problem
My HDD crashed, so i replaced it with new one. installed it correctly. it booted fine. loaded windows on it in morning. now since evening. it does not boot.
I have checked the SATA-I compability jumper, its set at factory default i.e 150GB/s
also, the RAID config utility, which appears just after POST srenn is detecting the HDD correctly.

It just hangs while loading bootloader.

Please help

I can't be sure if this is the cause of your problem. But most mobos require that, if you're using a single SATA drive, it has to be set to non-RAID in BIOS. It won't boot otherwise.

its a single HDD and no RAID have been setup..
its just plain vanilla SATA hdd

what i think is, its the onboard SATA port thats culprit.
but i am not sure, how to confirm this?

[edit]
I downloaded Seagate Seatools and tried booting with it. it does not boot with hdd attached.it hung at InitDisk function
so i removed the HDD and seatools booted fine. after that i again install the HDD *without* poweriting off my PC.
and guess what it worked!!
and i tested the drive with Short and long test. and it passed both the test without any trouble
