I gonna upgrade My PC on next month. I alrdy have msi 5770. Tagan 500wt PSU & 3GB DDR3 ram @1333MHz. I will buy a NZXT gamma cabby.

Now I need suggestion to buy a procy with mobo. I shortlisted this combination bcoz of my tight budget---

1. Phenom II X4 955 BE+ Biostar TA785G3 HD / MSI 785GM-E51 ( total cost = 11k approx.)

2. Phenom II X6 1055T + Biostar TA785G3 HD / MSI 785GM-E51 (total cost= 14k approx)

3. Core i5 750 + Biostar TH55B HD ( total cost= 14.5k approx )

I need this PC mainly for gaming. I didnt do ANY multimedia work...
Plz suggest which is better Value For Money combination.

go with 2nd option. also for motherboard get Biostar. that MSI is plain vanilla. its stripped of all its goodies. its an MSI without any stars :)

but do remember, i5 750 & X4 955 both will better in gaming. though you can OC the 1055T to go past both i5 & X4s, on stock cooler.

But if i go 4 2nd or 3rd option then cant be able 2 buy any cooler with it bcoz of my tight budget.:-( That means i cant OC both of those 4 now.
But If I go to the 1st one then I will buy CM hyper 212+ with-it & I can easily oc it. I heard 955BE is great 4 OC potential.

Now say which sud i opt ?

I need this PC mainly for gaming. I didnt do ANY multimedia work...

You can OC with the second option on stock cooler. I'm not sure how much, but 10% should be very safe. you can do a trial & error while monitoring temperatures & stability and also look online for suggestions. in the meanwhile, suggestions will come here too.

you not need to. X6 1055T runs cooler than X4 955. also 1055T can touch 3.8Ghz+, ON STOCK COOLER. you can safely OC to 3.5Ghz on stock cooler, provided temperature don't rise up badly.

i'll say 25%. easily. but only problem, some heatsinks aren't good. they make lot of noise & insufficient for cooling the processor at stock voltage itself.

OP, just cross your fingers that you don't get such a heatsink, else a new cooler is necessary. if you get a normal cooler, just make 3.5Ghz as safe target & do the OC. will easily reach on stock voltage.

i5 750. but as it doesn't have onboard graphics, a separate graphics card is compulsory. also X6 is currently best VFM. with i5, you'll get best performance but its socket LGA1156 will be replaced by LGA1155 by Q1 2011. so you'll be stuck. no more upgrade.

So i5 is not future proof. X6 is almost same as 955BE for gaming. I have 5770 card which I think a very good GPU. So why i spent more than 3k for X6...

I think 955BE wud be best buy...

The performance difference between X4 955 and X6 1055T is almost same in gaming. But any other multi-threaded application X6 is better than X4 955.
The other things are
1. It runs cooler than X4 955. AMD has done serious work on this.
2. It supports the Turbo Boost technology, like Intel CORE series processors (although not as good as Intel). So even non-threaded applications you will have performance boost.
3. 1055T has more overclocking potential than X4 955 (as mentioned by the other members)
3.The price difference between these two processors are very less.

So better opt for the 1055T.

thnx 4 suggesting...

But my point is that i need it only for gaming. I dont need to work on multi-threaded application.
actually my 1st choice is i5 coz it is the best procy 4 gaming among this but the problem is that for i5 I need p55 motherboard which cost is around 6.5 k even if i go for h55( which is not recommended for i5 I think ) which will cost around 5k. though I afford i5 procy but for the price of those mobo it is over budgeting for me. :sad:

but if I buy amd procy I can get a good 785 mobo within 4k. then if for gaming there is not much difference in 955BE & X6 then I think 955BE is better option for me. Coz it saves 3k xtra for my budget which I can spent on a gud cabinet or cooling...:idea:

+1

go for i5 setup....:grin:

Well then go for Phenom II 955. It is available at 7.6k in Kolkata. It is a good overclocker also. I overclocked it to 3.8 GHz once with the stock cooler. Normally 3.4 to 3.6 GHz is very stable for it.

What is the difference btwn H55 & P55 mobo? both r supported for i5 but H55 price is cheaper than P55. why??

p55 is for lynnfield family 1156 processors. (i5-7xx. i7-8xx)

h55/q57 are for clarkdale based 1156 processor. (i3-5xx, i5-6xx)

clarkdale is for IGP solutions so chuck it.

see if you wanna stay up in the tech periodic table , and will jump and grab intel sandy bridges as soon they come.

then even going for core2 quad setup is not a bad idea.

why because you need the cheapest and the best mobo+cpu combo that saves u a handful and lasts u till sandy bridges.

if u dont like the farfetched dream , then go with AMD , u wont have to throw ur mobo.

if u want intel , remember "high dumping value" . means a mobo cpu combo which u wont mind throwing for sandy bridges but will be happy and gleeful with it till then.

So if i go to the 955BE + biostar 785 mobo that means it is good procy + decent mobo combo

If i go to the i5 + H55 combo that means grt procy + cheapest mobo combo.

So what will be better to pursue ?

if u want 2 OC..then i5 + P55 else H55 is good too :grin:

actually H55/H57/Q57 + i3 or i5 (except i5 750) = you get IGP.
P55 + i3, i5 or i7 = no IGP as motherboard lacks any video output.

also P55 ---> Xfire & SLI possible. H series ---> single card configuration.

if u want 2 OC..then i5 + P55 else H55 is good too :grin:

:agreed: i5 + P55 = great OC. but will need suitable ram & a good heatsink to utilize it.

@Sumanz:

I think you would have seen the below answer on another forum.

X58 = Full Features/Crossfire 16x/16x etc...
P55 = Regular Features/Crossfire 8x/8x etc...
H57 = Integrated Graphics on CPU/No Crossfire
H55 = Integrated Graphics on CPU/No Crossfire, Less Features (no RAID/less USB)
