Setting up a mail server

I have a domain name.
and webspace ..... the webhost provides Email account...and that is not up to the mark( free hosting!)

I want to setup email account...so that I can have myemailIDs@mydomain.com

Still working on to find out how merak, meldware communication suite, xmail etc work?

you can either try google aps or live hotmail to host ur mail accounts any one can serve you better.

custom MX records - some tells they are some alliases..dont know abt much..but they are just few lines are entries that directs to ur mail exchange server. You can alter these settings from domain control panel.

Alternatively you can run your own mail server by installing scripts like hmailserver + squirrelmail,roundcube and so on

1) You need to get your own domain (Rs. 400pa + Rs 100pa for Managed DNS)
2) Change the MX Details for your domain and point to Google Apps
3) Now Check your mail using GMail Interface.

In preferance/priority what should I give to gmail.
my host cmane is at 10,

I have bought the domain name from godaddy and hosting the site ar byethost.com (free hsoting)

I have put the nameservers as specified in the byethost.com
but I am unable to put a cname???
I have searched the entire cpanel at byethost.com but couldnot find it
please help
