Hi guys,

My system currently has the following specs:

CPU: Intel C2D E6600 @ 2.4GHz
M/B: Intel DG965RY ATX
RAM: 4 x 1GB Kingston DDR2 @ 667MHz
HDD1: Hitachi HDP7 500GB SATA-II
HDD2: Hitachi HDT7 160GB SATA-II
HDD3: Samsung SP1213C 120GB SATA-I
ODD1: LG GSA-H55N
ODD2: Lite-On 1673S
GPU: XFX 8600GT (periodically overclocked)
Fans: 1 x 80mm, 1 x 120mm
Case: iBall i701 Entry level Server Chassis
Monitor: Dell SP2208WFP (Just mentioned for sake of completion, powered separately from UPS)
OS: Windows Vista Ultimate SP1 32-Bit
This system is currently powered by a Zebronics Gold Series 450W PSU, which is listed on the spec sheet ashaving 20A on the +12V line. Everest lists the following voltages on the +12V, +5V and +3.3V lines:
+12V: 12.05V
+5V: 5.17V
+3.3V: 3.37V

I am planning to upgrade the GPU to a 9600GT in the very near future, and think I will need to upgrade my PSU to meet the extra demand.

I have a budget of around 3.5-4K.

What are your suggestions as to the best PSU I can get?

Thanks in advance.

NPP

Any suggestions on where I can find the Zebronics 640, either online or locally?

I do not think it is readily available in Trivandrum, where I live.

The Coolermaster is available online with a number of online dealers, though.

@pillainp
Zebronics Diamond is available here even in Kottayam. It shud be available. Look for stores dealing Zebronics products. I can order one for u at kottayam if needed.

U can safely go with CM 600 too. Get it from cooldude..ie theitwares.com

not really..a good 450W sply can handle that config easily..corsair 450 or coolermaster 460 would be good..
i myself used a 460W supply with Q6600 and 8600GTS , 4 hdds..no issues at all.

I dun think 1 450W PSu cud handle it, even if from a gud brand like Corsair coz 9600Gt consumes almost thrice the power of an 8600GT. And the power consumption furthr increases when he oc the proccy.
U can get a CM 600W easily for the price u pay for a 450W Corsair HX.

i have a cooler master 460W psu .. if u wanna check that i can send it :)
i think all agree that Q6600 consumes a lot of power.. so when OC'd it does even more.i used this psu for a month with Q6600 , 680i, asus 9600gt , gskill 2*2 gbhz sticks oc'ed (4gb at 1150mhz) , wd hdds..never had a glitch..i can provide this psu if u wanna check that.. :p

The Sorcerer

oh wow...Xenforo!!!
It can handle it. You forget that seventeam 500w is OEM of cm extreme 600w seasonic are OEM of corsair. Dont judge a psu by its wattage. Judge by its efficiency and ampere. If your REALLY serious, read this you will get the idea:

No ques it is corsair vx450w it can handle rig easily. Also it givs 530w than rated 450w. Cm600w is gud. Bt vx450 is best for 3.5k

While choosing psu go 4 highr +12v amp ones. Also singlep rail better than multirail. Then cmes efficiency n wattage ofcourse.
