Warframe
my current config:
<garbage>intel core duo 2ghz
1 gb ddr2
intel dgxxx</garbage>
seagate 1 tb hdd
^ this garbage was from a "computer bhaiya" a few yrs back, when i didnt know better. now, the audio is dead, the display does not show the red channel, and it freezes, even on openbox crunchbang.( diagnosis, a fsck'd up psu )

so, im going for this in the next couple of months.
Athlon II X4 635 @4.6k
Gigabyte GA-880GM-UD2H @4.3k
Corsair Value 2x2GB DDR3 1333MHz @2.3k
Sapphire HD5670 512MB@4.5k
Cooler Master Hyper TX3 @1.3k
LG SATA DVD-RW 22x @0.9k

i dont wanna bump a old thread, so i'll just post the link here.

im still not sure whether to go for 635 or 955.
im also confused about the mobo. i need one for oc(not too hardcore)

im going to buy these in stages.
first, a psu, coz mine has gone almost-kaput.
next, a gpu,
then i'll replace the cpu/mobo/ram

which psu to buy???

What is your budget?

I recommend the Corsair CX400W or if you can afford it, the VX450W. A little bit of headroom would do you no harm.

Well if i were you, i'd get the MSI HD5770 - 7.8k and a Corsair 450W along with some better RAM sticks.
Corsair value ram's had been facing reliability and compatibility issues the last time i checked due to below par IC's and wafer thin build quality. It was about 9 months ago and a lot might have changed, just reminding you though

@doomgiver
-->well i'll suggest you to go for 955BE and skip cpu cooler this time, since 955BE is stocked at 3.2ghz and can reach to 3.6ghz without any help of after market cooler

-->no need to change the mobo
-->go for FSP saga II 500W, its enough
-->and if possible...go for HD 5770 as sid said already,....will boost the performance
rest of all is fine

If you are going for a dedicated GPU, better get a PSU among these:

1. FSP Saga II 500W : 2k-2.3k
2. Corsair VX450W: 3.5k
3. SeaSonic S12II 520 : 4k-4.3k

corsair is a wee bit expensive. no doubt its awesome quality, but i do have limited cash.
ok, saga 2 500W sounds fine. for 955 and 5770, i'll have to wait :(
yeah, oc can wait(oc in summer will melt ur cpu)

IMO get a Tacen Supero 600w - 3.5k [80% Bronze certified.] [Much Much Futureproof & can drive 2 * 5770]

next Corsair XMS3 2X2GB 1600C9 - 2.4k

5670<5770<6850<6870
4.5k < 7.5k < 10k <13k

final config.

955 BE
Gigabyte GA-880GM-UD2H
Corsair XMS3 2X2GB 1600C9
Sapphire HD6850
Tacen Supero 600w
LG SATA DVD-RW 22x.

Don't overclock a new Processor [will save couple of thousands from buying after market cooler], untill unless you are not satisfied with the performance.

If you are going to wait for the next couple of months, better wait for mainstream AMD fusion. If you don't like them then go for current gen CPUs which will be cheaper after fusions release.

I dont think it makes sense to go for am3 configuration now. Better wait for am3+ motherboards or bulldozer. Else go for Core i3 2100.
