^^hehe. aayush should be awarded "Most Ignorant Fanboy". he can make anyone lose respect for Apple fan's with comments like "ipod touch better than PSP". "ipod touch has better interface than PSP" huh. Grow up Mr. Aayush.

hehe. It's not aobut speaking ill of PSP. It's about saying that f***ing mp3 player from Apple is better than PSP. That shows how ignorant this guy is.

Oh, I forgot, he uses mac na. that means he doesn't know anything about hardcore gaming is and what exactly gaming is. That is why after seeing ipod Touch running games like word puzzles etc, he should have felt that it has superior gaming interface :)

But to be completely honest, the touch's interface is revolutionary by all means. But having a killer interface without killer features and killer performance to control is like having a saddle made of platinum for a lame donkey.

hahahaha. well said.

@madjeri
The equation is simple, if u want games, go for the psp, nothin beats it in this territory.
If u want music, u can go for both, both r pretty good in this field.
If u want video, psp does it, larger screen and man, u gotta c the screen, its so beautiful.....

I own a black psp and i have used my frnds ipod nano. to be honest i liked both devices. one more thing, if u decide to get a psp, get new SLIM version only. Dont allow anyone to talk u out of this, its got an hdmi port, its lighte and smaller, 2X RAM(not many know this....) and more importantly, its pocket friendly! and yes u can install custom firmware on this to play pirated games(i do not advise it!) and install manyyyyyy apps! tell us ur decision..

@ desiibond cool down man. Or else you're going to have the entire brigade of Macboys on your tail ;)

@ gowtham, HDMI port? it's just a video out port.

Edit: This was supposed to be reply #20, so read it in that context.

Frankly, I didn't know it was capable of all that.

Yes, if the primary concern is gaming, get the PSP. :)

My personal choice, however, would be the iPod touch and that's not because of the Apple logo. That's because I don't game. :)

PSP>iPod, touch or otherwise.

Most of the reasons have already been enumerated above. Add replaceable battery to the list. Apart from games, you also get UMD movies at a very reasonable price. Finally, once you have seen the video quality on the PSP, you won't reall like any of the other PMPs.

when you don't game, there is no necessity to post reply saying that "psp is better than ipod touch". For god's sake, do not misguide someone by suggesting to put hard earned money into something that doesn't suit the needs

I expected an apology for the unnecessarily rude comments, not pretentious anecdotal advice.

It's not that the original poster would have bought it just on my recommendation anyway. And I didn't explicitly ask him to opt for the iPod touch. I made it clear that I was not very sure about games, but the iPod touch was better for most other tasks. I realise that whatever little advice I gave regarding games was completely wrong now, but that's life. Sometimes you're right, sometimes you're not.

I accepted my mistake and changed my recommendation. If you expect me to delete my post or post an apology for wasting your time, I'm sorry that I won't be able to satisfy you.

It's very easy to be a loudmouth on the Internet. What matters is whether you choose to or not. Your comments were unwarranted and you could have proven me wrong without the extra rudeness, like ring_wraith did. I didn't object to it. I was wrong, so there's no point in arguing.

But cut the crappy advice already. I know how I'm supposed to behave on an online forum and what I'm supposed to post. Thank you very much.

Buy an iPod touch (16GB or 32GB).

It's an iPod, has an awesome screen, the best user interface on any device, plays videos, songs, podcasts, what have you, full fledged Internet, WiFi, Mail, Google Maps, Games (awesome games that respond to Multi-Touch gestures and can recognise when you tilt the device and such). The list goes on... :)

Strange, I can't seem to be able to interpret any part of this as a qualified statement..........

One more advice: stick to "All things about Apple" and to those posts about mac :)

Btw wats the maximum expandable memory on a PSP?

And can u playback divx, xvid, h264, ogg-vorbis on it?

ring_wraith

=--=l33t=--=
^^ suddenly a lot of interest. The expandable memory is the max available on the market, AFAIK, 16 GB. But the card will cost you a bomb and will be very hard to find.

Divx and Xvid go, no Ogg [grrr....] but no idea about h.264

and @amitava, even I am interested in knowing how you do the afforementioned.

I own both:
A PSP and a 160GB I-pod!
I used the i-Pod for almost a month and gave it to my sister.
Happy with my boredom killer aka PSP!
And since GOD OF WAR is out....its gonna rock out big time!

PSP is much better than I-POD apart from storage part.

some of the posts on this forum are the courtesy of PSP!

h.264 MP4 is the native video format for the PSP and that's why the quality is so good :)

Something everyone seems to have forgotten to mention (even me :() is that xvid/divx cannot be natively played on the PSP, they have to be converted to Mpeg4 h.264 video.

^^ it can. You need to have some kind of homebrew for it, so i guess that it is pseudo-native. In the sense that a PSP can play Divx and Xvid without conversion, but you just need some software for it. Just like Divx is pseudo-native to Windows.

And I use it.

If you are going to get ipod from US, check deals2buy.com. This is a site that lists all the deals across various stores in USA.

In India, enquire at several stores. For example, you get ipod for lower price at Brigade Road's Glasgow computers than at Forum's Apple store

IMHO, you should check the Creative zen.
