So, I've got the phenom II X2 560. I ran the Prime test for nearly 6 hours and the proccy temperature maxes at around 53*C. Idle is around 35*C. I live in Delhi, so temperatures are fairly high this time of the year. So, are these temperatures normal?

More than normal at this time of Summer. Small advice, don't run Prime for such long durations
You don't need to stress test for so long.

thanks buddy!
btw I've heard that cpu temps can be lowered by lowering the vcore from bios
Can that be done with my mobo and if yes, how to do it?

The load cpu temp with 2 cores or at unlocked state with 4 cores ?

Most of the mobos support manual cpu volt changing - post a cpu-z pic while running a cpu stress test app at background if you are running the pc with CnQ enabled .

lowering the vcore will reduce power usage ;-)

@ OP - try changing the cpu vcore to 1.25v

53 on load for 6 hours? Thats very very good temperature. Don't worry about it. Anything below 70-75 is considered to be okay/safe.
