^^"Drastic" is relative. A cooler which Doest Not cool at all, should not be priced at more than 500 INR, i dont expect a laptop cooler to provide stratospheric temperature at the butt of my laptop but it should cool it for god's sake...it must bring down the temperature to at least 80-85 without all those innovation, at least they should follow what are written as the functional and operational spec of the same when the buyers see it and buys it. Mesh structure, airflow design, fan postion, RPM etc etc big words, nothing works in Indian climate, for the same reason Air coolers fail in rooms with window open, Air Conditioning is different.

even some coolers in the online store page were priced and looked like as if would cool off a god damn rage bear. huh

The cooler I bought is not meant for actual cooling, actually I wanted a stand to elevate the laptop so the bottom intake vents will be left open, and the cooler does just that, I was getting tired of using the 3 books method(my intake is skewed to the edge, so have to use 3 books).

laptop coolers are waste of money..you can tell that just by looking at the design...i've a design in mind which needs....

Powe source = usb......

A centrifugal flow kind of design...exactly this

*i48.tinypic.com/301ooc1.jpg

design only....costs around 100 rs ...will update when i finished this.

it will prevent from dust too...

Basic Thermodynamics, The "aircooler" uses a fan to draw warm outside air through a filter medium or throws onto a mesh, where the heat of the incoming air enhances evaporation of SOME of the water particle in the surroundings, the mesh structure helps to extend the effecitve surface area for more evaporation and distribution of heat, The evaporated moisture is blown into the system, raising the humidity [not good]. The evaporation of the water-moisture absorbs some of the heat from the air, reducing its temperature. the efficiency of thses coolers depend on the incoming air being relatively dry, or preferably having a very low relative humidity. The higher the ambient air relative humidity, the less efficiently the cooler works. thus Indian climate espcially cities and urban areas having river bodies or sea side not far, having high relative ambient humidity, "air coolers" works like **** in terms of "cooling".

On the other hand, a mechanical air conditioning system utilizes a REFRIGERANT, in a closed system which REMOVES heat from the interior air [circulated through the EVAPORATOR COIL by a fan], which carries the heat to the outside CONDENSOR COIL which transfers the heat to the outside air being circulated through that coil with another fan. Since mechanical air conditioning does not rely on the cooling effect of evaporating water, its efficiency is not as dependent on the relative humidity. In the process of removing heat from [cooling] the interior air, it also condenses much of the moisture out of the interior air, thus reducing the system humidity, so untill and unless there is a coolant involved in cooling be it "water", "compressed/condensed" air in a "CLOSED" system where p1v1/t1=p2v2/t2 works...you can not really cool anything.

Its already been made, I am pretty sure you have something like this in mind: Branded EVERCOOL laptop Notebook cooler USB 3800 RPM | eBay

 Stealing designs eh?? tkin...bust 'em
That idea is novel, its just like a GPU cooler, I'll probably get one soon to test it, its cheap anyway, what I'm afraid about is that the fan will be too low powered to actually do anything.

I was thinking about how to implement liquid cooling into that....have to have a blueprint :( that thingy is tiny.

EDIT : un possible

Uh, really now?

Anyway you'll need a cart to drag it around and run it plugged in, but, portable. :D :D
