@Faun: Nice IEMs. Place of purchase?
Online via TFTA acoustics and Hisoundaudio.
*tfta.eu/products.php

Both have exactly opposite sound signature. TFTA is bassy and colored, excellent for dubstep, movies and games.

Golden Crystal is sparkly at the higher frequencies, a delight for treble lovers. It's less colored and quite neutral.

The herd tendency is scary though :-O

@Charan: Is it like a better media player or something completely else. Congrats though. :)
Cant say better media player cause I haven't used other ones, I actually wanted to go for WD TV Live (Gen 3) but it was not available, Also the additional features in AC Ryan's players were attractive, like inbuilt BitTorrent Client, NAS feature, User Swappable HDD, and YAMJ ( I haven't tried it yet).

Congrats Charan.. Pics?
Thanks, Will try to put up some pics :)

Hello gentlemen ! 'kilroyquasar' is back :D

so how is everyone doing ?!
now let me not put up any reasons for my absence from this thread that could be best termed as lame (ill-health ?, busy ?, nothing new ?, disenchantment ?....aah. forget it !) ;)

the page looks so colourful with all those sparkling new stuff you people got ! mighty congrats to everyone from my side !!

@ sarath - congrats for that water-pistol ;)
a friend of mine had suggested me to join IVG sometime back. your post reminded me of it. now will see you there too :)

and you had M2 already, isnt it ? or was it M1 ? dont remember. the pic though looks so pristine. the IEM is almost tempting :p

@ faun - congrats for those monitors ! nice pics too. but never heard of them. need to check up some reviews. if possible, pls do post some feedback on them later on.

@ charan - congrats ! so you finally got hold of the player. strange you couldnt get the WD TV Live. had you checked over at HFV ? but anyway, POHD2 is also a great player ! hope you enjoy it. now waiting for the news when you get the HD TV :)

@ stonecaper - nice collection of books, and the iktara ! the pic looks so vibrant ! and the books at the bottom have caught my attention ;)

now my turn :D
so these are some of the trivial stuff i happened to somehow acquire within this 'out-on-a-stroll' period :

1. Panasonic 50VT20D - 50" 3D Plasma HD TV :

- many thanks to sarath for this ! he was the one who first introduced me to the fact that how plasmas are so much better than LCDs/LED-LCDs in terms of PQ, when i was oblivious to this fact and of the stern opinion that i would buy anything BUT a plasma ! hehe....and you can see which direction i finally went :p

- took a lot of research before i selected this. 'N' no. of TVs with each having their own unique properties, and several auditions and discussions later, i prostrated fully to this !

- honestly proud to own THE best series of HD TVs on the planet ! the VT series from panasonic are considered to be the best HD TVs PQ-wise, and are generally touted to be worthy successor to the erstwhile legendary KURO series from Pioneer. Has got rave reviews and several awards, including the rare 'Reference Level' award over at hdtvtest.co.uk. this TV is BLACK !! :D

- i bought this TV from croma at a price tag of 73k (minus 5% cashback on CC purchase). got logitech K270 wireless keyboard, as well as a pair of panasonic active shutter 3D glasses bundled with the TV. these glasses alone cost a whopping 9k a pair, which is an exorbitant price panasonic is asking for (these are non-rechargeable, IR-signal type, battery-operated glasses) ! some people have even got 2 glasses free with this TV from different croma centres at a TV- price of 68k-75k. considering the price of a single pair of glasses, they struck a real good deal ! many people get a nauseating feeling after watching 3D content for a while, but thankfully am not one of them. i really enjoy watching/playing 3D content/3D games on it :)

- now officially only croma owns all the stock of this TV. they bought all the available stock from panasonic quite sometime back. panasonic-india is on the verge of launching the successor to this model, namely VT30, in 65" category, priced at about 3-3.5L. one thing that is a fact is that panasonic has insane pricing strategies in india. the 50VT20D (the letter 'D' indicates region-code, where 'D' stands for India) itself was retailing for 2.5L till april 2011 !

- anyone looking for an HD TV and is interested in this, may PM me without any second thoughts. would be glad to be of any use !

- now pics dont do justice at all to the magnificence of this TV, still for your reference, here they are (i have got some good pics shot by a good photographer friend of mine, which i would be attaching hopefully while posting feedback/review for this TV sometime later) :

'Almost' invisible in the dark. as i said earlier above, this TV is, BLACK !

*i.imgur.com/lj9mjl.jpg

*i.imgur.com/DhFtdl.jpg
Astounding levels of detail & depth and blacks ever seen by me on any HD display panel !

2. Edifier DA5000 Pro A.K.A. 'The Window-rattler' :

- got it after some research, and sometime of searching around, from 'alfa', andheri, at a sweet price of 8.2k.

- am absolutely in love with this system ! packs a real punch. have got the satellites nicely wall-mounted. gaming on this is an absolute delight, and to my surprise, it fares pretty decent (very much likeable infact) in music too. but again, am no audiophile here ;)

*i.imgur.com/XNJIGl.jpg*i.imgur.com/sXJs9l.jpg

3. F&D F5090 :

- bought for 8.5k from 'more', to accompany the TV.

- absolutely worth for movies and gaming ! not for music though, understandably.

- the build quality is pretty sturdy, and the supplied cables are well constructed and strong.

- has only analog ports; no optical/co-axial, but i dont care much.

- goes pretty loud, and the sub's beastly ! i had to get a stand made for the sub to control the boom.

- i dont have a worthy pic for it, but here's the product-page's link. you can even read the tech-specs there :

just this much

4. HiMedia HD900B - 3D HD Media Player :

- again, bought as accompaniment to the TV. did use my PS3 for a while with the TV for movie-playback, but needed something ultra-portable, and after researching for nearly 2 months, finally settled for this.

- great playback, with real good processing power (has realtek's latest chipset 1186DD). has HDMI 1.4a interface (for 3D playback), 1 USB 3.0 slave port, 2 USB 2.0 ports, one eSATA port, SD card slot, gigabit LAN port, wifi antenna, optical/co-axial/S/PDIF as well as analog connections, touch-screen UI, nice functions-packed remote, plays any format you throw at it, video as well as audio, support for all HD-audio formats, HDD bay, internal fan for HDD cooling, can play blu-ray disks too with a BD-ROM drive attached to it through SATA connection, has bittorrent, streaming videos run flawlessly, is android-based, with great firmware support and highly user friendly GUI as well as customisable software, can convert 2D to 3D (though with a FW version which will be released later), etc etc.

- bought it for 11.5k from detna online shopping, bangalore. the person who owns the portal is named Raghavendra Reddy, a.k.a. 'Raghu', and is a very friendly person with great service. he shipped the product to me even before the payment reached him :D

Detna Shop

- got 1-yr warranty for this product, handled by Mr. Raghu himself. this player's got a very good support, and one of the best feedback from customers worldwide. like most of the HD media player companies now-a-days, which happen to be orientals (like korean, chinese), this too is a chinese company, and enjoys the same reputation in china which the brand Tata has here in india (got to know this through an acquaintance in china). much satisfied with this product. anyone interested to know more can ping me up anytime !

HDD enclosure (supports upto 3TB size)

5. Tata sky+ HD PVR :

- upgraded from tata sky SD to this as soon as the opportune moment arrived. had this offer on one of the 'jhingalala saturdays', wherein existing tata sky subscribers could upgrade to this at half the STB's current price. though had to pay the full amount (4k), half of it got credited to my tata sky account. satisfied !

- great recording functionality ! also, gets regular firmware updates. with the recent firmware, they have 'movie showtime' thing activated. havent checked out what it is. has got 5.1ch audio too.

6. Roccat Kave 5.1ch headset :

- got it for 5389/- from nextworld.in

*i.imgur.com/T0lPgl.jpg

- my feedback on it is already up. you may pls check it here :

cant really think of anymore. oh yes....also got an el-cheapo toolkit from sulekha.com for ~180/- ! just decent i would say. nothing to be boasted about.

will try to post feedback/reviews on these later on. on roccat kave i've already posted my thoughts. others will come up gradually ;)

and a few more goodies lined up for admission to my home. lets wait and watch ;)

rest, keep posting guys about your exciting new purchases !
