Was not spending much time with PC to do upgrades but last month upgraded my config (pics later).
After upgrading to a faster system I realized that its not a justice to i7 2600k and Windows 7 and
I am not able to see the unleashed performance, the glitch was my 500GB Black.
So went on researching on fastest drive and finally end up with the FASTEST drive which I can afford,
saw its demo and could not stop my self to go for it.
Yes,
it is OCZ 120GB Vertex 3 SSD.
Picked two of it. As I saw my 1 yr old Win 7 with Programs is sitting with 75GB so 111/120 GB was good to go.
Burned my pocket with 14300/- each.
Total= 28600/-
OCZ is a very innovative company, full on for them,
but its SSDs failure rate is also higher than any other company
Its two weeks now I'm testing it again and again and not able to stop myself for doing it again and again
First I though I will make it RAID 0, but trust me single drive also has jaw dropping performance.
Most of you might have seen online videos of its performance, some of the
eye catching testing I did:
- Windows 7, 32 bit Fresh installation time on SSD: 11 Min 25 Sec. I was logged into system.
- MB+GPU+SC Drivers Installation took another 4 Mins from HDD
- 12GB Crysis copy from 2TB Green to SSD: 2 Min 33 Sec.
- Windows 7 boot time: 18-20 Seconds BIOS POST and 16-18 Seconds for Win7.
Earlier i used to come from office, switch on computer > Remove shoes > wrist Watch> change cloths
and then find System ready. Now its like 35 seconds and its ready.
- Crysis 2 Beta - level loading time: 8-12 Seconds,
BFBC2 - 4 Seconds.
Lost Planet 2 Stage loading: 2 Seconds (It shows the screen Now loading and you're done.
Could not see instructions scrolling during load up.... damn)
Metro, Split second velocity, NFS HP 2, Fear 3 etc average stage loading time is 3 - 5 seconds.
- Firefox with 115 tabs: Click the icon and it opens, it loaded before i could start the timer, I guess 2 sec.
- Windows Media Center: (The slowest app I guess no one use) Click and open.
iTunes - nearly 2 seconds
- On iMac if you noticed the spotlight search is instantaneous and Win7 with HDD has no match for it.
But with SSD I actually see it is as fast as Mac OSX. Never seen windows performance like this before.
- When a new USB device is connected, it only shows the message "Drive is ready to use".
Earlier on HDD it keeps on searching for a minute to install drivers.
The second drive is still not in use as SSD has limited lifespan.
Kept it for Mac but before that will surely try RAID 0 SSD and post results.
Meanwhile I further test it, you guys watch its bench and google some videos and thanks for reading praises

Benching SSD is nearly 2 min.
