Hmm I can say one thing for sure. A video camera can shoot stills and a still can do video but both are good only for their primary purposes.

Hence I suggest if video and stills are both your requirements then go for dedicated gadgets.
A DSLR is more appealing as a hobby than taking videos. Plus many shoot 1080p video too so they can do for those occasional parties or marraiges ;-)

There's my vote.

Yes it does full HD. Actually I have a vid cam already. Got this for the HD part as I am due for a vacation this week.

Thanks guys for providing details on what exactly is the Media player used for. Even I was planning to buy one since I have lots of movies which are in formats not supported by the DVD Players. But if I purchase a LCD TV/LED TV which supports most of the formats would the Media player become redundant. Would appreciate if somebody could give more details on how exactly can this be used for.

LCD/LED doesn't support all formats till now
and
The Chip inside those media player are far superior than TV to play HD content

Bad news guys.

My Infamous 2 Hero Edition arrived today.

But it seems my PS3 has stopped liking any discs. It is unable to read any disc anymore, reason most probably being faulty mechanical parts. :banghead:

I contacted Sony support. he told me that the official policy is to replace and not repair products. :banghead: he gave me their customer support email and told me to send them an email. I did that. I am hopeful.

Since my product is out of warranty and purchased abroad (Hong Kong in 2009), I bet they will force me to buy a new one.

Lets see what happens.
