The lens is Canon EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 II. It is the kit-lens provided with the body by default.
The optical zoom on this lens is 3X.

We would love to see some UHQ results too if possible :D

I wish I could provide some 'UHQ' pics, as I am just a noob...

I just don't want to look like a tourist lugging the camera around my neck. But I'll try to get a decent snap of something nearby.

uhh
how did you unlock an Athlon to a Phenom?

how did you unlock an Athlon to a Phenom?

Sometimes when CPUs are getting prepared there are some faults in the fabrication process in some of the samples. For example a Quad core Phenom II is having some faulty section in its L3 cache or one of the cores of it is not fully functional due to some fault.
Now rather than completely nullifying them as production, AMD uses a policy of re-branding those faulty CPUs. For example in case of a Phenom II with faulty L3 cache, its L3 cache gets disabled completely and re-branded as Athlon II.
An Athlon II X4 with one falulty core gets its faulty core disabled and re-branded as Athlon II X3.
You may have processors with both faulty core and cache, which I think is the case of Monkey.
Now if you have motherboards based on 785G, 790G, some new 770G with updated BIOS and 8XX series, then there is a function available in BIOS called Advance Clock Calibration or ACC. By setting it to Auto, you can unlock the disabled portions of your CPU. You will not get a fully functional Updated processor, like you may get 4 MB of L3 cache rather than 6 MB of it or the 4th unlocked core is not fully stable due to some internal problems, but still you will get very high amount of performance benefit.
Please note that it is not possible in all the cases, now most of the batches are coming with faulty processor Core or Cache fully removed.
So its depends on your luck too.

proper word Die harvesting

AMD used to sell the 8-series Phenom IIs that were quad cores with 2-3Mb L3 cache. now they are no longer made. than with 6Mb cache but 3 cores aka the Phenom II 7-series.

one good way to find if the proccy was a Athlon II X4 with 1 core disabled or a Phenom II X4 with 1 core + cache disabled is to turn ACC on without turning hybrid mode on. if the proccy has 6Mb cache, it'll be disaplyed in CPU_Z or will end up in BSOD. else its a Athlon II X4

removed? i think cause of the maturity of the 45nm SOI process at GF, the defects has reduced (so less harvested parts) a lot so unlocking chance are way low than it was in a year ago.

BTW i wonder what Intel does if its Core i7 or i5 ends up with 1 or more faulty core. maybe throw them away. or maybe lock the core permanently.
