Initial impressions:
Its big. Its HUMONGOUS compared to my other tiny ones (especially the E10). This thing projects out a good 1 cm from my ear making me look like a mini frankenstein :>
I cant tell whats this extra bass thing is. Sounds normal - definitely bassy signature, but in a good way. (normal = good, not boomy bass)
Packaging puts my equally pricey PL50 to shame. Hard case is nice. L shaped connector. Plenty of eartips - defintely the softest silicone ones I have had so far.

KOAN. From 1:00 to 1:10 - sounds a lot like the Grado SR60 (which you already know is a headphone and not a fair comparison) in general. Bass slightly heavier on the Sony, a tiny bit of mud at the lowest end maybe, cant quite tell. Soundstage is a bit less wide as compared to the grado.
Compared to my PL50 - definetely better bass, much better bass actually. The PL50 sounds much more open, but thats because the bass is near non existent. The mids seem to be equal, only that the bass shadows them on the sony - which i believe is a nature of the track.
