Only for gaming + some noob/technical ques

vickybat

I am the night...I am...
this gigabyte is factory oc.its good but what about msi or sapphire ones? arent they available yet?
and does ggigabyte 7870 has same fan noise problems as its 7850?? anybody here have hd7870?
also i want to buy a dvi-d cable for monitor..i only got d-sub one..any link which i should buy? i think i will be needing a single link cable..but not sure..

guys i am thinking,amd 960t + hd 7850 + nzxt source 210 elite + MB...wouldnt this be more balanced..?
please clear my doubts regarding hd7870 being too much for 1600x900..i think hd7850 would be able to handle all current and future games in next 2-3 yrs at this resolution..or not?

for gaming only,i5 2400>amd 960t?

I'm using a 5750 for 1600x900 resolutions and its playing all current titles and that too with high settings if not very high. AA has to be reduced or even completely disabled in some tasking games.

A 7850 is far powerful than my card and is definitely an overkill for 1600x900 resolutions. You can max out the settings in a lot newer games without breaking a sweat. 7870 will be maximum overkill unless you plan to change the display to atleast a 1080p one.

Currently, an i5 2400+7850 looks to be a balanced option and you can very well go ahead. :)

Get the 7850 :\ It might not be too much at that resolution forever. GPU gets outdated very soon. So unless you are planning on buynig another graphics card inn an year or so,get the 7850 which should be enough for 1600X900 for atleast 2-2.5 years.

Sapphire HD7850 or Gigabyte HD7850 OC Ed. with dual fan cooler or else what I mentioned on post no. 16 - the best HD7850 out on the market IMO ;-)

ok guys i am finally buying and visited SMC and Comp empire(CE) to know the prices..

i5 2400 + intel DH67CL B3 = 16900 (16300 CE)
Corsair GS 600 = 4100 (4300 CE)
MSI HD7850 Power edition OC= 17500
RAM Corsair value select 4gb = 1250
CM elite 311 plus = 3000
Asus dvd = 1000
CM Elite 311 = 1900 (2000 CE)
Gigabyte hd 7850 oc = (16000 CE)

i have some question-
(just to state i am not going to overclock)
1.should i go for gigabyte hd 7850 oc or msi power edition oc twin frozer iv? as topger suggester msi one is the best but its at 950 mhz while gigabyte is 975 mhz..
2.my ups is apc 500va with a new battery, will it be able to give atleast 2 min backup?
3.corsair value select ram or g skill ripjaws x?
4.how is cooler master 311 elite plus? i want to have good cable management and good airflow. any better alternative within same price range?
5.should i buy components from one shop only or get them from where they are cheap? (i think neither one of them will assemble if i buy some parts from other shop)

1. Your wish. I consider both more or less same.
2. 500 * 0.67 = 335 watts. Your power consumption is going to be less than this when NOT gaming. I dunno if you also run your monitor off the UPS.
3. Gskill Ripjaws X.
4. Get NZXT Gamma or NZXT Source 210. Check on online sites.

@ yabbadaaba -

** Get components wherever you find it at cheap price and told one of your friend to assemble the pc or do it yourself - this is a great experience ;-)

** Get Corsair Value Select DDR3 1333 Mhz ram

** a 500VA may or may not provide adequate ( or any ) backup time at all ( are yu ging to use the monitor with it too ? )- For you a 600VA UPS is more suitable.

** at 2.8k you can get NZXT Source 210 Elite.

** If you are not OCing then get Gigabyte HD7850 Oc Ed. but even if you are remotely interested about OCing or want to have the best HD7850 then there's no second alternative to HD7850 Power Ed. - the Twin Frozzr IV cooler is much better and when OCed you can get performance similar to a HD7870 - ain't that's a lot for 1.5k extra ! ;-)

^^ you can install 6x 120mm fans on Source 210 Elt. but only 2 on CM Elite 311 plus- so 210 has better cooling but if you are Ok with 311 plus and likes the transparent side panel then you can go for it ;-)
