New LG Optimus One vs Second hand HTC Desire

Friends...

Now that Mobile Number Portability has finally arrived, I can shift from my CDMA Tata Indicom and move to GSM and get a decent smartphone. I currently have a Samsung Corby Speed CDMA handset, which has a 2.8" resistive touchscreen, is slow as hell, has a poor touchscreen keyboard and a buggy software.

Now, I plan to shift to GSM in the next week, and will need to get a phone.

I have two options...
1. New LG Optimus One -- 11.8k
2. Second hand HTC Desire -- 15.5k

What do you guys say? Desire is a bit more than my budget, but I can get if its value for money... I am more inclined to get an LG Optimus One because it is new...

What do you guys say? Which of the two could be a better deal for me...?

7-8 months used Desire... maybe 4 months of warranty left...

Even though Desire is second hand and a bit expensive, it has a bigger screen (3.7"), WVGA resolution (800x480), faster processor (1 Ghz), better camera (5 MP)... and best of all... great support from XDA...

you are comparing a cripple[optimus one] with an athlete[HTC desire]

Even though Desire is second hand and a bit expensive, it has a bigger screen (3.7"), WVGA resolution (800x480), faster processor (1 Ghz), better camera (5 MP)... and best of all... great support from XDA...

i know but its a used set. are you buying through Ebay? better don't. get a first hand experience. check the condition. also if you want a similar mobile, you can try Motorola Defy @ 18k or maybe below. 2k extra but the specs are the same.

I went to a shop to inquire about HTC Desire... he said the battery life for Desire is very poor... Can anyone vouch for Desire's battery life?

battery backup is not more than a single day..
else it depends on the usage.. how many application are running on mobile in a complete day..

Try to bargain for HTC Desire and get the price to somewhere around 14k. You'll have a killer deal.

+1!! Go for desire, no questions asked, provided it is in a good condition. I don't know whether you'll be able to get it 13-14k, but please try. At 14.5k, the phone would be a steal. (Again, provided, it is in a good condition)
