hey guyz

i was planning to buy a new pc and this is the config...

Core 2 Duo E8400
Abit IP35-E
Kingston 800MHz 1GB * 2 Sticks
XFX Geforce 8800GT 512MB
Seagate 320gigs (16mb buffer)
Liteon DVD Writer
Coolermaster CM690+Coolermaster Extreme Power 600W
Creative SBS 370

--------------------------------------------------------------------------I have some Questions..
Should I stick with the e8400 or go for a q6600? since the price diff is quite less..

Anymore suggestions with the motherboard??

Is western digital better than seagate??

Is it worthwhile to spend 8k on a Cabinet and PSU for this config??

I wanna use it for gaming and which lcd will b the best (19"-22" with model)

anymore suggestions will be really nice...

Damm those were a lot of questions...:D

For gaming i think E8400 is better as games dont use 4 cores yet...

Abit IP35 is a good choice...

Better go for MSI or eVGA card rather than XFX as they have heat issues...

You can also see CM 330 cabinets as they are a bit cheaper... but a good cabinet and PSU increases the machine life and decreases the heating of the machine

Ya, 8400 is much better than Q6600 in todays games. Maybe in future Q6600 gets better performance, but E8400 oced to 4Ghz will be much supperior to Q6600 oc in games.

If u get 22", then 8800GT wont be able to play heavy games like Crysis @ max at its native resolutions. But it can do at native resulotion if 19" one.
Better get 8800GTS if u plan for a 22".

And Liteon DVDRWs are crappy these days. Sony and Samsung are gud now. I ll go with Samsung S203 20X sata. Samsubng used to make crappy driver but this model is real gud. Better than Liteon/Sony etc.

So which model for a 19" is recommended?? Ive heard Viewsonic is good...

And which company exactly should i take for a Graphic Card?

And how long will a properly overclocked Processor live for... i mean will it last for another 5 years... cuz im pretty sure that after and year or 2 ill stop the gaming and the system will become a home pc cuz i wont b present to use it...

thnx for those who replied

i fail to understand why are you settling on SBS 370 only?? I think you should go for Logitech X-540 if gaming is on your mind.

Go with E8200, even that has more then enough power. Quad Core won't be required even if u r heavily gaming as not many games are Quad Core optimised.
Is western digital better than seagate??

Both are similar.

Is it worthwhile to spend 8k on a Cabinet and PSU for this config??

Yup.

I m using 20" LG L206WTQ LCD Monitor for Rs 10.5k, have a look at my workstation thread in hardware troubleshooting section.

In 19", go for LG L194WT LCD monitor

8800GT is lot more powerful than 9600GT. But 9600GT proves better VFM if u intend to use it @ 1280*1024 or 1440*900. On higher resolutions that this, 8800GT wins hands down.
9600Gt scores well at low~med resulutions mainly due to its higher clocks.

I've this set and awesome response. Best VFM!

Difference between 9600GT and 8800GT:
9600GT is comparatively cheaper than 8800GT. 8800GT on the other hand has more shader processors than 9600GT, making it more powerful than 9600GT! See, for the moment, i think 9600GT is a better pick. The only shader difference isnt that enough to brag about, unless u play shader intensive games@ higher resolutions.
