actally the problem you mentioned you will overclock this in future..and i5 2400 is contrast to this. you cant oc it. also you are going to keep it for 3-4 years. i will suggestyou a 2500k + p67 mobo so that you can oc when when needed for futureproofing. also mention the list of softwares you will use?

Intel Core i5 2500k @ 11.2k
ASUS P8P67 @ 10.5k
Corsair XMS3 CMX4GX3M1A1333C9 4GB @ 2.3k
Sapphire/MSI/Powercolor/HIS HD6850 @ 10.5k
Seagate 500GB 7200.12/ WDC Blue 500GB @ 1.7k
Corsair VX450W @ 4.5k
CM Elite 310 @ 1.5k
Benq G2220HD 22" @ 7.3k

Total - 48.5k

another thing is the graphics card. this can last you 2 years but 4 years is too much..this mobo will allow you to crossfiire later. just get a Corsair TX650W + another HD6850 after 1.5years or so..you can easily clock this processor at 4ghz for performance in crossfire later to ensure no bottlenecks from cpu side.

this is just my suggestion..

Thank you guys for replies.

The problem i live in small city called belgaum( north karnataka),The dealers over havnt heard brands like corsair , coolermaster so hard to get those in my city . I know it is possible to get them through online shops but im avoiding due to warranty issues.

They are selling i5 2400+asus p8h67mle at 19k and they say its only one mobo available at this point of time. So im confused.

These guys are offering me vip 500w smps instead of corsair so is it good?

Guys one more thing, as per the online psu calculator at asus site i should have atleast 415 watts of power so considering 80% efficiency of Vx450 it ll only give 360'watts of supply. So is it sufficient? or else shall i go for vx 550
If i go for vx450 , ll it handle 6850hd ?

What are ur opinions about lg e2360 its led monitor and is available at the same price of samsung p2350.

^^ no. VIP is a local branded PSU. stay away if you want use your system for a long time & without any problem. in simple terms: get something that can live for long without any problem. cause a bad PSU may get damaged under load but it may damage the peripherals thats getting power from it.

yes, VX450W is enough. it can supply ~550W under load. but that doesn't mean you should push that piece of electronics to its limit. but VX450W is a pretty safe bet. VX550W only if you can afford without sacrificing the performance of the other parts.

@ Jaskanvar Singh- thanks for reply .

i ll b using softwares such as

Ansys, catia v5 , autocad, pro-e.

I have heard that the i5 2400 can be overclocked to 3.7 ghz. There are some videos on youtube of overclocked i5 2400 . So in future with the help of p67 mobos is it possible to overclock (little bit) them?

If it is not possible then im ok with h67 mobos.

and pls suggst some config including ups.

No it can't be overclocked.

And you are viewing efficiency other way round.
Its how much effecient a PSU is at sucking power from the wall. i.e. if it needs 80 watts it will take in 100W.

Thank you sam and Ishu for clearing my doubts.

One more thing,

I want future proof psu, so is vx450 future proof. I mean if i add 6870 later ll it handle it?

If you want more performance down the line, then get a Corsair TX650W or Seasonic S12D 720W.

Then you can add another HD6850 to run along with your first HD6850. Results are immense.

I dont have any plans for crossfire i just wanted know whether the vx450 is capable of handling single 6870 hd or not.

Anyways, intel ll be recalling its 6 series chipsets so im confused !!!!

I have only two options

1) go with it now and hopefully replace it later.
2) wait for newer chipsets.

As of now i dont have any pc And i cant wait that long so pls guys give some advice.

Wait for a week. Newer models will be released. You'll just have to careful while buying the mobo.

The issue isn't major and will be rectified shortly.

@ Motosmith

A vx 450 can handle a single hd 6870. I have a friend who uses a 5850 along with core i5 750 on a vx 450 over a year now with no problems at all. 5850 is more power hungry than 6870. So it should work without any problem.

For your second query, i would say to wait a bit until intel fixes the chipset and then make a purchase.

SB mobos should be available in 1.5 to 2 months.
Please wait if you can.

Also another option is to buy SB now and RMA the board when new chipset arrives.
