@uppalpankaj - Going for a larger LCD means the battery will drain out quickly. Also since not availability of optical viewfinder you will have to rely on the LCD. So go with W220 only.

dont worry u will very rarely miss that 10x optical zoom anyways

He will miss for sure. I was bout to get a 6x optical zoom camera but I am glad that I got the SX 100 IS.

Still no problems, W220 is a good camera none the less. :)

W220 indeed seems 2 b a great package at a much lower price than other digicams..I wished it would had the optical zoom power of SX110 IS...

Can't Talk. In The Zone.
"canon sx 110 IS" is any day better than all the camera in its range, because its sensor is bigger than all P&S cameras......so better quality & clarity.

the question is what your priority - compactness or quality ?

for (better)quality pics
I recommend
canon ps 590IS (i have it)- 8mp, 4x opti zoom, Image Stabilizer
canon sx 110IS - 9mp, 10x opti zoom, Image Stabilizer

for compactness
sony CS w220 or any canon ixus model

Also looking for a camera ...already have a sony W150 with me and need a camera to leave back at home ...what is the current price of the canon SX110 and what all things are bundled with it?

HMJ

Right off the assembly line
I suggest the CANON A2000IS
It is slightly over from your budget. costing round about 12,500-13,000
It is a 10MP with 6x optical zoom camera.
and offers all the latest features of canon.
It has great Redeye removal technology which works batter than a sony's cameras.

Some stores offers a free tripod also.

i dont think A2000IS is even better than A570IS & A590IS...
A2000IS...& A1000IS are not good cameras....missing Aperture Priority,Shutter speed priority & Manual shotting mode.....

i dont think any of canon camera has bigger sensor than these P&Ss....
1st is Sigma DP1 & DP2 has biggest sensor....they uses DSLR`s sensor...but both are P&S camera..
2nd...Fujifilm Finepix S1000FS.....
3rd....Panasonic Lumix LX3...

all these three are great camera...
