Hi,

I need a hard disk for my Intel d101ggc motherboard with intel dual core processor 2.66 ghz and 1.93 gb of ram.

Can you guyz please suggest some hard disk that is good and reliable one.

I am not looking for too costly hdd but a good one within 5k or 6k.

The hdd should be quiet , cool and should have good speed.

Get WD Caviar Black 1 TB SATA HDD @ 5.6K. It is a performance HDD, runs at 7200 RPM speed and offers 5 years of warranty. Your Motherboard does have SATA ports and all you need is to plug the HDD into the port. For cheaper option, look for the Toshiba 1 TB 7200 RPM SATA HDD which is around 4.1K

If you want performance then go with Western Digital Caviar black 1 TB, like Cilus mentioned. But, if you want capacity then you can in for a Seagate 2 TB @ 5800.

Thank you for the replies but i think 1 tb is too much for me, can you suggest me hdds which are less than or equal to 500 gb capacity as i dont store much data on my system.

i think my mother board is having sata ports because right now i am running 80 gb Sata hitachi hard disk.

How? Give reason please.

Every company buy hardisk from seagate. after that level own name . can you test any hard disk online for any bad sector. when ever you test any hard disk of any company , they transfer to the seagate for warranty claim !! Why?? If you have free ,must test your hard disk..
thank you.

WD Caviar Blue 500GB - Rs 3350

But...IMHO if you can get 1 TB for just Rs 1000 extra, then why not get a Toshiba DT01ACA100 1 TeraByte with 3 years of warranty and at Rs 4310?

Stop trolling and posting baseless and wrong info. WD, toshiba and Hitachi, all have their own manufacturing unit and they provide warranty support by themselves, not through Seagate. Stop trolling now.

Thank you all of them who helped me , I think i will go with WD blue 500gb. Is there is any other performance hard disk present that was not mentioned in the above posts, please let me know.

If my mind changes after visiting the market then i will come back here again. ok.

For 500 GB Model, you have made the best choice, no need to rethink it now. Go with the purchase.

I would just like to share my experience - I used to recommend blue WDs as well, but very recently, I have seen (colleagues + my own) a series of (at least 5~6) blue 500Gs crashing like crazy in the 2nd year of their warranty (they carry 3 yr warranty).

They were not all bought from the same place (hell, 2 of them were from different continents) or at the same time (so, probably not the same batch).

So, either back up your stuff frequently and change your drive after couple of years (or at least use it as a semi-important drive) or get a black one (of course, nothing is stopping the black one from dying within 6 months, but hopefully it will be more reliable).

Sorry to post this after you have clearly stated your intention of going with blue but I just had to let you know!
