You can still install unsigned applications because of UDP(User Data Preservation) feature but,caps off and on are not working.

You can install the regular apps. Just not some of the pirated ones which require hacking.

No. Because N82 has User Data Preservation. Still it would be better if you backup before updating.

I have updated my cell to v30 firmware but I dont see any remarkable diff. in performance, sound quality. In fact my cell hangs more than b4

@Akshay: It seems like ur update didn't go properly. As other users have suggested those improvements. Reinstall ur firmware , format and install all the apps fresh.

Yup it should work. Just make sure you have already hacked ur phone before upgrading.
