In an attempt to get high speed broadband connection within the reach of the masses, Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Ltd (MTNL), popular broadband service provider in Mumbai launched 2 Mbps Broadband plan for Rs.25 per month, called “Broadband For Every Home”. By slashing the prices of entry-level broadband, MTNL hopes to make their ADSL based wire-line Broadband services (Triband) a favourite among the crowd, since it has now gotten more affordable. In an official statement, MTNL confirms that all the new customers choosing to go in for their "Broadband for Every Home" plan will have to "pay one time charges Rs. 200 for installation and testing Rs.300 and Rs.600 for MTNL wired or wireless (Wi-Fi) modem respectively and Rs.50 per month ADSL Modem rental extra", while adding that if a user already has a modem, then they won't be charged for the modem.


MTNL's Broadband for Every Home plan

Those wanting to avail this offer, will have to pay Rs.300 for a year for broadband access with speeds upto 2 Mbps, at the cost of Rs.25/month. This package comes with free usage of 50 MB per month, taking the total data usage to 600 MB. MTNL adds that after a user has exhausted the free data usage limit, the charges for per MB usage after that, too is low at 20 paisa per MB. MTNL further states that, "This new plan is suitable only for casual Broadband users; hence high data usage customer can opt any other plans starting from Rs.395 per with Unlimited Data usage at 512 Kbps speed and 2 Mbps Xpress Broadband plans starting from Rs.600 per month."

Plan Name: Broadband Every Home Plan
Annual Service Charges: Rs.300 (will be taken in 1st bill)
Download Speed: upto 2 Mbps
Upload Speed: upto 512 Kbps
Free Data Usage: 50 MB per month
Additional Usage Charges: 51 MB to 500 MB at 50p/MB, 501 MB to 1 GB at 30p/MB, 1GB onwards at 20p/MB
Bill Cap: Rs. 5,500/- per month for usage, beyond Bill Cap FREE unlimited usage at 2Mbps download speed.
Monthly Modem Charges: Rs.50 (for MTNL Modem)

Wow.. got to be a Joke! 50 MB FUP with 2Mbps!! :rofl: (granted price is also low, but still :rofl: )

That translation of FUP, costs to Rs. 330 for first movie of 700 MB... :D and then Rs. 140 @ 20p per MB.

(just sayin... :rolleyes: )

i know and i wish MTNL was available in my place also but looking at the above plan, what were they thinking? planning to loot customers?

Yeah making money out of newbies. Indians would salivate at Rs.25 and buy it and then some of them will end up paying much much more. Smart from MTNL if you ask me. :D

my den bb is better than other provider no FUP. I pay Rs 550 including all taxes in a return I get 4.5GB for 30 days, Free downloading at night 10 P.M to 10 A.M with speed of 2Mbps, after 10 A.M the surfing speed is 1Mbps.

BSNL esp after speed bump is very pathetic..download is fine but streaming is now EPIC FAIL.

No wonder if they are one of the leaste successful govt. organisation, which cover up their losses from tax payers money. They don't even have proper adsl lines in Delhi and mumbai.

They might be gearing up for a big April fools joke :p
If they give plans like this it's best not to give highspeed plans. Who cares? They lost only Rs.1000crore last year.
Really 50 mb will be over within minutes
