Keep AMD or jump to Intel?

I have the config as shown in my siggy.
Recently a friend of mine has shown interest in buying a computer (mid-range) and he has offered me to to take my mobo-RAM-proccy for decent price. I have limited upgradation budget and hence was looking for these options:

1. Sell MoBo-Proccy-RAM and buy Z68 based system.
2. Keep Proccy and sell MoBo+RAM. Buy new RAM and 990X based MoBo (Asus Sabertooth) and keep option of upgrading to Bulldozer later.

First option will cost me a lot (around 20k extra if I go for 2500k+MoBo+Corsair vengeance) but with second option I will be stuck to AMD (and hope Bulldozer comes with some punch).

What should I do? Which option sound good?

Bulldozer is already a lot late. Its launch is not yet confirmed. So, better sell your current rig and get a Z68 combo rig..

And the Intel combo (you have mentioned above) with Vengeance 4GB will cost around 24k.

^^he is already having a descent rig,so i think he is not having any problem with the performance for gaming or anything.so better to wait for 2-3 months and decide later.

Although my current config is good I am still considering these options as I will be able to extend the performance of my system without breaking the bank few years down the line. My friend is offering 12k for proccy+mobo+RAM.

You Config is a good one.
If you don't have any lag in the Gaming & other stuffs then i don't see a requirement of selling & getting Sandybridges.

But if your getting a decent deal with lot of profits out of it then go ahead & sell it first then decide.

BullDozer Performance no one knows...Launch Date? Already postponed... & I seriously doubt that it will crush i Core Proccys.

I say go with z68 + i5 2500k and OC that baby to 4.5 on Air. Even bulldozer will have hard time beating that baby then.

Going with option 2 is kinda Gamble. If Bulldozer delivers what it should then its a good deal but if it fails then all the money put in it will be a waste.

Selling your rig now, when Bulldozer is coming out in a month or two (with good compatibility with your mobo and ram and gpu) is worse than listening to Rebecca Black or Justin Bieber singing! you have a very good rig. KEEP IT!

Your rig is already very powerful. Keep the rig for now. Tell your friend to wait, if he can, let BD roll out, and take a decision accordingly.

better to wait for 2-3 months and decide,if bulldozer is good then you will be very lucky,if it is not then you can always go with SB ,it won't go anywhere it will be available in the market then also.
if i was you then i would have never thought of upgrading for 1-1.5 years.

The fact is you don't have to upgrade at all. Only reason you are thinking of upgrading is that your friend is offering a good price. But remember you will still be spending money over what you will get from your friend. Your rig is so good that you can even skip Bulldozer and upgrade in 2013 rather than next year. Just think about what kind of rig you will be able to get then. You will see no practical advantage in upgrading, unless you just want to benchmark your system and feel happy about your score.

I have dropped the idea of SB as I feel (and many of you have felt too) that my config is good enough for me. Now only thing is MoBo. I will be shelling 8k more for Asus 990FX Sabertooth and in return will get MoBo with USB3.0 and SATA-3 (and also 5-years warranty). I can then get OCZ Vertex-3 in few months time and get a good fast config. How does this sound?

If you really going to get the Vertex 3, then having SATA 3 is better for optimum performance. So changing the mobo is mandatory for that as your current mobo doesn't have any SATA 3 ports.

ASUS Sabertooth is a very good option for a 990fx mobo.

But if having an SSD is not absolutely required, then your present config is already up to the task. Rest you decide.

Nice, sabertooth is good, but just give a tad more and get Crosshair V formula(@15k), the top end ROG 990x mobo from asus.

5yrs warranty means nothing, after 3 yrs if your board breaks you will end up with a sloppy repair or a credit note anyway.

Crosshair V Formula is a very good mobo but for its price I can get Sabertooth + a good CPU cooler. Besides I am not heavy overclocker - I'll push my 955BE to max 4.0 GHz with RAM @ 1600MHz for which, I think, Sabertooth is enough.

In that case sure, go for sabertooth. Very good mobo, with oodles of thermal monitors spread all around the board.
