Installed Windows 8 on Windows 7. Help!

Guys, I accidentally installed Windows 8 in the same drive where I installed Windows 7. It created a "Windows.old" folder which I think is Win7. Everything is usable and no problem at all. But how do I uninstall this Windows 8? I didn't like it. No Start = fail (for me).

Is there any other way other than format and reinstall Windows 7? Please help.

you cant uninstall windows 8. In order to get windows 7 , you must have a clean install of windows 7 again. It may be frustrating but no other way. I also didn't like windows 8.

another windows.old

If you install win7 like this again, its gonna put the files of win8 themselves in a windows.old folder. That is going to even complicate things. The best way is to scan the present Windows.old folder and copy anything useful. Then u can format the drive and get a fresh windows 7 install

you should have created a separate disk partition to install windows 8. Because you were trying it. Windows 8 final is still not released.

In his case, he doesn't necessarily need a clean install of Win 7. All he needs is a system image of his Win 7 installation (with the then installed software and all), use his Win 7 system repair disk and try to restore the old system image, which process will first come up with an error message saying that boot repair is required. After boot repair, he would be able to recover his system back to the condition it was in just before installing Win 8 over Win 7 ("Upgrade Mode"). This is exactly what I did successfully after I was similarly dissatisfied with Win 8 CP. In fact, there was a clear warning to this effect on the relevant Microsoft web page.
In my case, I have OS on Drive C and all application software on Drive D, both of which together formed my system image.
Of course, if someone doesn't have a system image, he/she has to start again from a scratch, which would be a pain.

firstly u should try this on virtual environment. And if u want to do it this way shrink ur drive and create a new drive.

lolyea. I don't want download 5GB again now, do I? BTW, if you'd tell the proper process of copying, pasting and installing BF3 thru Origin. It'd help me very much.

You don't have to reinstall.Try what sjoardar said. The size of the created HDD image will depend on the size of the contents of the boot drive and and system drive. Relocate all the unnecessary data from those drives and make a system image (Control Panel->Backup and Restore->Create a system image).

it is your choice. First create a separate partition and install it. If u like it u can install W8 final over W7 when it is released.

It will be the size of your system drive i.e c: :-D

Yes, the size of the system image depends on the contents of your system drive(s), and in no way as much as the total size of the system drives/partitions. In my case, the system back-up size was just >30 GB at the beginning, with just a few software installed, but has now climbed to ~37 GB. An external HDD is almost mandatory for such back-ups. Of course, one can always use an internal partition for temporary purposes, which is not safe in the long run for obvious reasons.

If you want Start button then This link may help you!

Thanks for the link. I am examining those options.

Happy for you! Unfortunately, I couldn't try that one because it is a 32-bit version and would not install over Windows 7 in the "Upgrade Mode".:-(
