^^Thats wierd.
Devx is correct Windows Usb Tools works for genuine windows iso only.
I have used it for
Windows 7 32-bit HB.
Windows 7 32/64 Bit Enterprise.
Windows 8 32 bit Developer Preview.
Windows 8 32/64 Bit Consumer Preview.
Works fine for all my iso.

after spending 5 min on google searching this error almost all the replies suggested problem at hardware level:hard disk failing, bios corrupted etc.get a linux bootable pendrive image or hiren's boot cd hard disk diagnostic tool(preferred) & check your hard disk health.
it is perfectly fine i tested it with "MiniTool Partition Wizard Professional Edition 5.2" and tuneup utilities 2012.

Thanks guys.i am going out of station therefore i will try again later and post the response after 2-3 days.

I just now i tried on my external hdd manually but got error when booting .
Q1)Please kindly check the method 1 and 2.Can i do this? If yes then how?
Q2)I have installed windows7 from my iso earlier on my pre-installed xp.I just mount it and ran like any other software, and it ran in GUI,and dual booted it.Can i do the same in my dos laptop by just copying it to hdd and run it?

A1 : Yes you can. First partition the harddisk using fdisk command. Make two partition with FAT32.

Copy the contains of Windows XP ISO to partition 2.

Start the installation of Windows XP from partiton 2 onto partiton 1.

----
To Install Windows 7 , you will now have to repeat the steps above with the ISO of Windows 7. [ doing so will remove/ replace XP ]

Side Note : DOS cannot format partiton with NTFS. And Windows 7 only installs on a partiton formated with NTFS. This is the reason you will have to first install Windows XP.

There are other methods too , where you can by-pass the installation of XP, but it becomes little complex.

Did you compare the hashes? If not do so once, so that atleast youll be sure of the authenticity of the iso. Theres a program called CyoHash, use it to check. Get the SHA1 of your version from microsofts website.

When this error occurs ? If you got this error while copying the ISO to USB then you should create another ISO to copy., NTLDR is the windows "bootloader" and required to load on boot and if it's missing than your flash-drive wont boot without it and UBUNTU have it's own bootloader - GRUB for all Linux OS's that's why you were able to install Ubuntu.

you are doing something wrong.NTLDR is not used by vista/win 7.it is replaced by winload.exe for these os.have you ever installed xp on the laptop you are trying to install win 7?
