can anybody tel how do facebook actually store the images. also can anybody explain what exactly is a content management system

I dont know what database facebook is using...but they surely convert the images to bytes & store it in DB.

Like you have to prepare your blog site, then you have to start a server and do a hell of settings and all, plus then do PHP, flash and other things as per required, but CMS helps you to do in a very simple way (xampp helps in this). Ex- Joomla is most popular CMS, Drupal is another one.

Facebook uses a lot of different technologies for storing and managing data.
They are probably using custom solution (Haystack) for image storage.
