How to update to ios 5??

Hey i have an ipod touch 4g.32 gb.
I have nearlly an content of 10 gb in my ipod.Now when i update will i loose everything of it?

moreover you can always resync- with itunes!!!!

before updating take a backup using itunes & then update to iOS 5.
