Guys nowadays it seems that there are only two kind of phones available in the market. The low end feature phones and the Smartphones. What will be your advice to those Who wants basic phone functionality like call, text, ocassional net surfing ...etc and a multimedia powerhouse like large and crisp display, good audio quality.......etc and dont require the processing power or tons of apps provided by the Smartphones????

Hmm unfortunately only option now would be the Nokia symbian devices. The N8 and 808 pureview come to mind :) These two are not really high end "smartphones", but beasts when it comes to multimedia and camera performance.

if someone want basic phone, better stick to sub 10k keypad based mobile. there are many with excellent camera and nice screen option. If opting for touchscreen, grab Android and don't use the apps that you don't like. Or use it as a basic mobile. Unless you turn data on, most androids can be used for 2 days before you need to charge it again.

good point, there may be a niche for such a product, especially if it has a very long battery life
but the way things are going, apps are becoming the media

Actually a Windows Phone device would be perfect for you. It has very good interface, performance and battery life. The main issue is the lack of apps compared to iOS/Android but since you don't care about apps that doesn't matter. Also the Windows Phone devices give you best VFM.

A high-end multimedia phone should have :
-4"+ Touchscreen Capacitive LED display with 200dpi or more.
-Atleast 32GB or Inbuilt memory.
-10Mbps+ HSPA
-Atleast 5Mpx AF camera with 720p Rec .
-2-3 days battery life.
-A decent GPU for Video acceleration.
-Dedicated Audio DAC for brilliant sound effects.

I think thats how I define a Multimedia powerhouse at minimum.
Most of the phone above 15K INR segment have most of these feature.

A phone with more processing and config will provide better multimedia experience , but at the cost of poor battery life.

^multimedia phones, you play once, and sit back, not operate continuously, resistive touchscreen with a stylus will be just fine
battery life should be in the range of 10 hours of continuous video playback though, and say more than 50 hours of continuous audio
such a device is possible within 6K

^FYI , There is a considerable difference between High-end multimedia phone and a simple Multimedia phone.

Capacitive touchscreen is indeed necessary in a High-end multimedia phone , it has many advantages over resistive in terms of multimedia experience itself.
By Multimedia phone , you simply don't refer to a Big screen just for watching videos.
