Dude, Increase your budget by 0.5k and buy Sapphire HD 5670 512MB DDR3 at 4.5K, worth every money you spend. There's no other good performing card at this range.

Even Sapphire HD 5670 512MB is available for 4k at some places.
But this the best card you can get in your budget for sure.

500 bucks more... i think am cool with it. Another question. Will my mobo support this GPU with DDR2 ram?
I already have a Build in Graphic card NVidia Geforce 7025 which came on the mobo. Would adding a 512 MB graphic card do any added performance?

No your Graphics memory wont increase. When you add the Graphics Card then your On-Board Graphics will be disabled, that means you can only use the Graphics of your GPU.

so do you think would it be sensible to upgarde to 512 or save up to upgarde to 1gb, will than the graphic memory performance increase. My sole intention for upgrade's to use photoshop? Does it really need an upgrade.

PS: My apologies as am new to graphic thing so my questions are many:-o

the mobo doesn't have to do anything with GPU's VRAM. DOn't worry, your GPU has DDR2, GDDR3, GDDR5 ram everything will work.

The inbuilt gfx is onboard, ancient GeForce 6200 class, albeit even more stripped down.

When you add a, say HD5670, the onboard gfx will go inactive, aka, switched off at all times.

which resolution do you game at?
If resolution is less than 1600*900, then 5670 512MB is enough

some times back i have used photoshop with 9800GT without any problem

P.S. 5670 and 9800GT are more or less same in performance

go for it eye close

for 4-5k best is HD5670 512Mb. GT240 can be considered as it has CUDA and photoshop takes advantage of CUDA acceleration but GT240 is slower (but cost same) than 5670 so there mayn't be any real world difference.

also if possible, add another 2Gb ram stick.

Photoshop is also able to use AMD APP and can take benefit of HD 5670. But HD 5670 is way pwerful than GT 240 in gaming. It basically needs a Video adpter with OpenGL 2.0, Shader model 3.0 support. Any card irrespective of AMD or nVidia or Intel, having those features can accelerate Photoshop.

FOr photoshop, RAM is a big player, infact 8GB provides a huge increase over 4GB too.

Add 2GB to your existing config if possible.
