nope. look at HD4770. It is pawning HD4850 in every benchmark here and also takes lot less power :)

dude, we're talking about the HD4850 512MB GDDR5 from Palit, which has a custom cooler and effectively replaces the HD4870 512MB GDDR5 at a much lower price and with just 50MHz slower core!

^^Palit or Gainward.

okay. in that case, it looks good and is a bit faster than HD4770.

Waiting to see what Palit does to HD4770. Surprised why they haven't come up any HD4770 card :)

Old wine in new bottle :p

BTW, it's very strange that palit still has not released a card based on HD4770

Then how can they call it still a 4850? Almost same specs as 4870.
But if 4870 was at 10k, then it wud be lot better, as it cud still OC from its stock, while thie 4850 OC is running at its limit to match up with 4870 clocks.

er no.

HD4870 and HD4850 have the SAME GRAPHICS CORE, but with different memories. That's the difference.

And the other difference is the GPU Voltage, HD4850's is lesser than HD4870. That's y this HD4850 512MB GDDR5 has a TDP 10W higher than a normal HD4850 whereas HD4870 has a TDP of about 47W above a normal HD4850.

And FYI, this card is way faster than HD4770.

thats what i said, with the lower core voltage, its runnijg at its limit with an OCED GPU. While 4870 seems to take that clocks easily with higher GPU voltage, and can easily OC further.
nyway, it shud be gr8 buy for 9k

for 9.4k, this card is unbeatable, it beats any GTS 250 and OTHER HD4850 out there. Dude, this card also pawns the GTX260 1k higher cost due to it's PowerConsumption and Price/performance ratio.

Yup, but the HD4870 cud hardly be OCed, I mean it was jhingalala if the core ever hit 850MHz, in most cases, 780Mhz or 800MHz was like the highest.

^^It does, except in some games like Far Cry 2 and Crysis.
At 1080p, it can give max out w any game upto 2xAA(4xAA for some). That's good enuf for a 9.4k card I think.

^ Add to it that at native resolution, one might be able to adjust w/o AA.
I think 4770 is able to handle plain non AA 1080p gaming. God this is getting better! :D

Are you sure ? I *may* just get a Samsung 22" 1080p Screen if I am not buying a laptop.

Anyway, I think they should instead just release HD4870 CHEAPER. I mean, once this thing is overclocked, it BECOMES a HD4870.

As for HD4770 pwning HD4850 in benchmarks, may I ask since when ?
The only place where 4770 scores is power consumption.

I don't think so. for some games, it can handle but if you want to play Crysis, COH, COD lastest games, HD4770 is not the one for FullHD

It does, but after a bare OC.

State the stock and OC'ed values.
And at what price does the HD4770 come minimum, and at what price does the HD4850 come minimum ?
Which performs better, the HD4850 or the HD4770, when OC'ed to their maximum potentials ?

You should consider these facts and state them before making any comments on one thing pwning another.

Thanks for the information. I hope you are refering to your 7750BE and not Athlon 3000+ in this benchmark.

How does Crysis do @ 1080p WITHOUT AA on your rig ?

my display max reso is 1440x900. And with AA, crysis at high settings gives 32+ fps. Haven't tested with 0xAA. should give 5-7fps more. And don't even think about 1080P gaming for Crysis with this card.

gives 13fps and 6fps with 2xAA.

HD4770 OC
Core - 850MHz(gos to 970MHz actually)
Memory - 1000MHz(goes to 1150MHz actually)

This setting beats the HD4850 by more than 7% and matches or beats the GTS250.
And HD4850 can be OCed:
Core - 700MHz(from 625MHz)
Memory - 1100MHz(varies, max 1150MHz)

But at this setting, the card JUST would beat an OCed HD4770.
