Hello,

I am having a hard time deciding between HD4670 and 9600GT. I have a budget of Rs. 8k . Please suggest which is better and if there any other GFX card for Rs. 8k which is better than these two.

Thanks!

What psu do you have ? If you do not have quality psu, the best option is

Palit radeon hd 4770 for 6.5k
zebronics 350w pro for 1.5k

If you have good brand psu already,

Palit GTS 250 for 7.5k

In ur 8k budget, why r u opting for those lower middle performance card. In this price u can easily have a good performance card. opt for Nvidia 9800 GT or radeon HD 4830/4770 based cards
Price:
Palit GTS 250 512MB GDDR3 @ 7.7K
Palit 9800GT 512MB GDDR3 @ 6.5k

Sapphire HD4770 512MB GDDR5 @ 7.2k
MSI HD4770 512MB GDDR5 @ 6.6k

nothin beats HD 4770 in that price range. it one hell of a card with gr8 oc potential and consumes much less power than a 9800GT.

4770 oc can beat 4850 or GTS 250 with ease.

No doubt 4770 is one of the best cards around. But I will suggest go for a 1GB version of 9800 GT/GTS 250 or 4850. Bcoz today's game r very demanding n they need a very high amount of memory for the huge amount of textures to create life like view. here spending of extra 1.5/2k really worth it. 4850 is having the computing power 'n if equipped with 1 GB of memory, it can be unbeatable at this price range.

more amount of GPU memory is utilized only if u are planning to play at HD resolutions on a HD monitor, otherwise the results r same. btw a overclocked HD4770 can easily beat a HD4850 or a GTS250.

yup, Palit HD4770 is not yet available. Sapphire, MSI and XFX are available now in India. The Sapphire HD4770 costs only 6.5k. Some of them in this forum has already brought this card.

If u ppan on using up more than 512MB of VRAM, then opt for a better card like GTX260 or 4870. Opfcouse even 4770 GPU will need more than 512MB if layed on high resolutions like 1080p or higher, but itll be the gpu thatll be the bottleneck.

For a card like 4770, 512 MB is enuf, plus its fast DDR5 even if the bus width is lower.

4770 is not a better performer than 4850. Don't forget 4850 is having 800 SPs, compared to 640 SPs of 4770. Actually 4770 sits between 4830 and 4850. The performance difference is 10% in most of the today's game.
But if u consider performance/Price ratio or Power consumption, then u should go for 4770.

I feel the decision should be either HD4770 or GTX260. Because performance difference between HD4770 and HD4850 is negligible. Moreover, HD4770 is lot cooler and takes lot less power. If the budget is strictly inside 9k, HD4770 would be the best choice and if the buyer can pay 10k-11k, GTX260 without a doubt :)
