External Hard Disk 3-4k | around 1TB

Hi all(again) :p

I need a Hard Disk as my laptop has hardly any free space left and I guess my Desktop's 500GB will be filled soon(about 100GB already filled). So I need external hard disk that I will use with my laptop for about a month or two, and then will permanently use it with my desktop.
My Priorities:
  1. I want 1 TB storage, and I am not willing to go for more than that(Unless its really reliable and can work for 2yrs+).
  2. Should be reliable. The last External HDD I used(Transcend) died in about 1-1.5years!
  3. Should not need external power.
  4. Nice speeds as I am going to fill it up with games and softwares I use very frequently.
  5. USB 3.0, as I may upgrade to USB3 in future.

Size doesn't matter to me(if not really too large :D ) & I dont care for features like encryption, backup etc.

I am going to buy it next month(can wait if better products will be available)
PS: I really dont know what things to look after except speeds and capacity...

Sorry forgot to check that topic earlier...

I looked at it, but it seems that he purchased WD My Book, not passport. See here: *www.thinkdigit.com/forum/overclock...ost-your-latest-purchase-349.html#post1472343
And this one requires External power and I prefer if this is not needed... :|

EDIT: Sorry :p Checked again and looks like everyone is buying storage space these days  But that too is 500GB.. :???:

EDIT 2:
Something just hit my head. I want your opinion, which is better- 1 x 1TB or 2x500 GB? 2-500GBs will reduce the chances of complete data loss, but as 1tb will be a single piece, so handling it is easy and will take less USB ports...

1 * 1 Tb will be good IMO . Data loss may be a worry but they are cost effective.

A 500 Gb will cost 2.3K and 1Tb will cost 3K so you can virtually buy more with same money .

WD 3.0 1Tb is the one I would recommend !

Internal 1 TB is around 3K right now. So I dont think you can get a External one within that Price.

If you are open to external supply then You can buy a internal 1 TB SATA and convert it to external USB with Rs. 500 Conversion Casing.

Seagate one looks nice, but power is a problem. WD Wins :p
I will see if I can find a way to get external power....

[edit] Just found that WD's package also contains AC adapter so I guess this means it needs external power... :?: If so, then Seagate wins :p :p [/edit

Hmmmm......

If I put the hard disk in some cloth bag, will it heat up? :???:

EDIT:
Found this:

This fills 4 out of 5 of my needs, and I guess this IS THE ONE :)).
Just one question:
In warranty period, do I get exchange for something like what happened to my last one: I plugged it in, it blinked the light as if power is coming, but computer doesn't detect it. Changing wire didn't help.
