Explorer doesn't show cd name on insert

Is there a software to check if media insert notification settings are as they should be?
The problem is that explorer in winxp never shows the name of the cd even if the cd is changed. doubleclicking works fine though. There is no autoplay.

I am also not sure if it is somehow related but i am not able to write to cds directly through explorer. It says no writable cd in drive even though nero works fine. I had turned off a service in xp called cd writing or something but no luck even after turning it back on.

Are there any registry settings i need to check up on?

Try installing ASPI drivers? (I guess it comes with Nero, and Autopatcher too)

the system used to work fine about 2 months ago. It is just giving these probs recently.
