My friend want to buy CPU+mobo for 20K.

1. What is the purpose of the computer? What all applications and games are you going to run? (Stupid answers like 'gaming' or 'office work' will not work. Be exact. Which games? Which applications? Avoid the word 'et cetera.')
Ans: Games like BF3,COD series.

2. What is your overall budget? If you can extend a bit for a more balanced configuration, then mention this too.
Ans: Rs.20K

3. Planning to overclock?
Ans: Yes maybe in future.

4. Which Operating System are you planning to use?
Ans: Win 7

5. How much hard drive space is needed?
Ans: Already have a HDD

6. Do you want to buy a monitor? If yes, please mention which screen size and resolution do you want. If you already have a monitor and want to reuse it, again mention the size and resolution of monitor you have.
Ans: have a 1080p monitor

7. Which components you DON'T want to buy or which components you already have and plan on reusing?
Ans: Already have a GS600, 4 GB ddr3 ram

8. When are you planning to buy the system?
Ans: within next few days

9. Have you ever built a desktop before or will this be done by an assembler?
Ans: many times

10. Where do you live? Are you buying locally? Are you open to buying stuff from online shops if you don't get locally?
Ans: Kolkata

11. Anything else which you would like to say?
Ans: CPU + Motherboard required

I was planning on upgrading to the same cpu+mobo combination. Yesterday I was quoted the price, which is quite higher than some online options.
i5 2500k : 12800+ tax
Asus p8z77-v lx : 11800 + tax

(md computers, kolkata)
May I know where you guys got your quotes from ? I guess a little bargaining is required :p

P8Z77-V LX is not good for OCing - no VRM heatsink and mediocre power phase design - for Asus you better get P8Z77-M PRO @ ~12.5k or else opt for Asrock mobos ( suggested here ) for a cheaper option - if you can't find them on local market order them from flipkart.

Wouldnt the P8Z77-M PRO (matx) have problems with conflicting heatsinks and memory sticks, owing to the closeness of the socket and the memory slots? And I thought atx have better heat dissipation due to their large size.
How does the P8Z77-V LE fare power phase design wise ? Asrocks are VFM as compared to Asus, but can they compete build quality wise and after sales service ?

^^ I think there's plenty of space near the cpu socket and memory slots so large heatsinks can be installed - even Asus Maximus V GENE is amatx mobo but that does not mean it's short on OC capability or feature ;-)

P8Z77-V LE and P8Z77-M PRO both has same number of pwer phase but still M-pro offers more heatsink coverage for the power phases - so it's a little better in OCing and only M-Pro supports CF and SLi both despite it''s matx form factor.

I had a thing for atx due to their larger size but the m-pro seems to have changed that with its feature packed board. Thanks for the clarification topgear. It helps a lot in making a decision. :)

searching for that Asrock board , if everything fails will have to go for online shops

ASRock Z77 Pro4 : 8800
ASRock Z77 Extreme4 : 10500

with motherboards having lots of USB ports and lots of addon components having USB interface the need of a full sized atx mobo has reduced - most of the people use only a single gpu and almost no addon cards but a large number of them is willing to OC their cpu - so now we can get quality matx mobo on the market which OC capability is similar to it's atx counterpart.
