Confused about cheating of processor...

I was at the lamington market to buy a pc for my friend cousin,i had got a I5 3rd generation cpu,the box had written i5 on it, but when i saw on the cpu itself it had got something of a pentium G series processor,,,i was shoked i refused it ,,i got then a a i5 pro written on the chip itself,,,i cheked on net that cpu name can be cahnged permanently,,,is it possible???also if possible how to know about this fraud???any help would be of gtr use....thanks...

Did you get with the retail pack?
Is the box tampered with?
Does it have Indian distributor sticker?
Is he given you a proper bill? With the serial number of the product and VAT number of the store?
What's the store's name?

just to point out, in the process of getting 'cheaper deals', people end up going to shady dealers. Reality is that you will not get lesser than the market price. Maybe 100-300 bucks difference at most depending on the hardware, but that's about it.

Thanks all for the reply...shop name was krazzy...somthing...the shop owner at casset world gave me some tips..as u people had told...now i now cheaper deals r not always good ones!!!!

Had a bad experience with casset world , I suspect, he sold me a used HDD .

saswat its good to try cpu-z if u r using the cpu itself...& not when its packed!!!
