Hello,

My relative needs to buy a new system, budget Rs.20000. The same will be used for basic home use, internet browsing and some office work. What will be the best configuration to suit his budget? Please remember that the budget is fixed and he needs to buy everything from cabinet, motherboard to monitor, speaker, etc.

No gaming here, so no high end components...:)

Thanks in advance.

Please also mention from which recommended hardware vendor shop to buy in Chandni Chowk, Kolkata.

hmm... ok so if its just basic home use, u can build it from scratch (i hv my 2nd pc (NOT the one in my siggy) wich i use for 24x7 downloads) :D

ok so here it goes.....

1.) Proc+mobo: Intel Atom Proc 1.6 Ghz + Intel mobo (945 GCLF) -------- Rs.3200/-

2.) RAM: Transcend DDR2 (667Mhz) 2GBx1stick ---------------------------- Rs.2000/-
(the mobo has jus ONE RAM slot and the MAX supported RAM is 2GB (667Mhz) also, the on board video chip gives a max resolution of 1400x900 on a 17" LCD)

3.) Basic cabinet (of say i ball or Circle along with 400W PSU incl.) ---------- Rs. 1500/-
(if u want any other psu, then i will suggest tat, but its NOT required as ATom processors run really cool and DO NOT draw much power too)

4.) Keyboard+mouse (both wired) ------------------------------------------- Rs. 800/-

5.) Monitor: any 17" LCD of Samsung or BenQ ------------------------------ Rs. 6500 (approx.)
(the atom processor can easily support a 19" LCD)

6.) Speakers: Basic 2.1 Speakers from Creative or Altec Lansing ---------- Rs. 2000/-
--------------------------------

Total Cost: Rs. 16000/-

--------------------------------

a good basic UPS is also required, but u hv NOT mentioned so im not listing it :)
------------

Cheers n e-peace....

Thanks for the Intel Atom based configuration.

Well, actually I was thinking about the configuration below. Total comes to around Rs.22000 which includes the UPS (sorry I forgot to mention the UPS). All the prices are sourced from www.deltapage.com.

Athlon II X3 425 3650
Gigabyte GA-MA785GM-US2H 4500
DDR2 1200Mhz RAM 2GB (Transcend) 2100
HDD Seagate 320GB SATA 2150
Sony DVD writer 1100
Logitech KB + Optical Mouse set 625
Zebronics/Iball cabinet w/SMPS 1600
Monitor 15" Acer LCD widescreen 4800
UPS - Microtek 600VA 1575

TOTAL 22100

more like:

Athlon II X2 240 2.8GHz @ 2.8k
Biostar TA785G A3 @ 3.7k
Transcend 2GB DDR3 1333MHz C9 @ 2.2k
Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 500GB @ 2.4k
LG 22X DVD @ 1.1k
Zebronics Bijli @ 1.5K
Logitech internet desktop black @ 0.6k
BenQ G2020HD 20" LCD Monitor @ 6.5k
APC 500Va @ 2k

total should b below 23k inc of all taxes. & chances are many parts wil b available locally so price wil b further lower. & the system can be used for casual gaming & is highly future proof.

Thanks. I can make one adjustment here, i.e. instead of the 20" monitor, I will opt for the 15" monitor, i.e. I can reduce around Rs.2k here. Does the motherboard have on-board display? Remaining money can go to a 2.1 speaker set.

So now as the configuration is fixed, from which hardware shop do you recommend to buy? Should I try Saboo, Vedant, Savera Marketing (RP Tech), Supreme or any other?
