Can HTC One AT&T be jailbroken in India?

HTC One is available on contract from AT&T and Sprint for as low as $50. So if one gets the phone from USA then can we jailbreak here in India?

Jailbreak ??? You jailbreak an Iphone not an Android.

Do you mean "rooting" ? Or "unlocking bootloader" ?

Jailbreak is for iPhone, if you want to unlock the bootloader go to htcdev.com

if i am not wrong .. the person who takes on contract are liable to pay till the end of contract .. so its not really $50..
also i think sprint uses cdma technology .. it can be reprogrammed to work on indian cdma network and need to registered.
but then you wont get any warranty ..
you get latest handset but have to be ready to take risk as nothing is cover in warranty
i have been using us phones .. no issues

If I'm not wrong OP wants to unlock the phone to make it universal sim device...
but does only unlocking the bootloader unlocks the whole phone?

Yes, you are right. I got it confirmed from a friend of mine in US. Moreover I think I can only use CDMA networks and not GSM. So, I dropped the idea.
