Hello guys! Its great to be a part of this forum!
So here is the deal, my dad has assigned me with building him a 30k rig. The primary purpose of this rig is to enable him to watch movies in high quality (fullHD will be nice), browse the internet comfortably (he needs only 5-10 tabs open) and generic data transfers (to usb, phone and downloads etc.) and in rare cases cd-dvd ripping. Now I have most things sorted out, but would like a second opinion as well as advice on certain components. So here goes.
CPU - AMD A6 3500 (This I presume should be good enough)
Motherboard - MSI A75MA-G55 (Want the USB 3, any other cheaper/better options?)
RAM - G.Skill Ripjaws 2GB x2 (1600Mhz F3-12800CL9S-2GBXL)
Monitor - Samsung B2030 (Are there other better options?)
HDD - will pick some 500gb one. (should I care which one I pick? I want the cheapest possible while maintaining quality, even a 320GB one will do as long as its better value from a cheaper reliable type point of view)
DVD-RW - Same as above, the prices seem to average around 1k for all brands.
Keyboard/Mouse - I am thinking of a combo less than 2k (or even 1.5k), could I get a decent wireless one or should I stick to wired?
SMPS - I think 250w should be more than enough. Not sure what to buy though. Would prefer one with a microatx form factor if there is such a thing.
UPS - Only required to shutdown in time. Considering how low powered the above components will be, which cheap one should I get? Will anything do?
Router - He recently got a smartphone. Would like him to have wifi. What good options do I have below 1500?
Fans - I intend to get a custom case for this done at a furniture store. Have left aside bout 1k for buying 2-3 fans for cooling.
So, what do you guys think? I was also suggesting to my dad to get rid of his old CRT television not buy a new monitor and instead go for a 20-25kish TV instead. He would be glad for the larger font and all his purposes will be combined (He likes to invite people over to watch DVD's). In this way he could kinda use it like an HTPC. Does anyone have any experience with using TV's as monitors?
I have build myself a couple of gaming rigs before (assembled em myself too) so I do have experience building PC's, its just slightly harder when you have a tighter budget, esp with things like the PSU
Thanks a lot in advance for the help guys!
