Boot a bootable iso image?

see i have a
bootable iso image (of ubuntu) on my hard disk
..i DONT want it to write it on CD..
i just want when i start my pc..it shows
option of starting from Iso or Windows xp

when i select former, iso should boot up

^ u cant do this to PHYSICAL COMPUTER.

Though u can do it in VIRTUAL MACHINE..

There is no other way then burning it on a CD...

Cant u use a Re-Writtable Disk for instance ?

I know of no way to do it via Windows but via Linux one can do it easily by mounting the ISO on a new partition and asking GRUB to boot from it.

Anyway, found this excellent doc now, check it out:

You need the Alternate Install CD for that though.

It has many options. Hope you have a flash drive or atleast a floppy drive with a spare floppy. (See the CD Image approach)
