    Hey guys,
Recently saw an ad that says - BenQ 24" G2412HD (23.6" precise) is just 12K. Is this true?
If its true, is it good? How can a 24" lcd pricing at 12k will perform? Will it be atleast equal to that of ACER AL1916W?

Need your views on this one guys. Also tell me your recommended monitors. May it be 22" / 24".

    My preference in monitors:

DELL 2209WA - ALL THE WAY for its E-IPS (Have seen it and worked with it)
    SP2208WFP - My current monitor
BenQ E2200HD VS Samsung S2033 - which one is better? Techenclave says samsung....
BenQ E2400HD & BenQ V2400W - Both are highly rated for a TN panel by many reviewers/

Is there any thing else that I'm missing in my list?

what's there to be surprised. 24" is available for 12k and Dell's is available for 2k more.

if you are looking for monitor, go for Samsung or Dell. I don't have a good feeling on BenQ's low build quality stuff.

A Dell S2409W is being sold for Rs. 12,750 on Gaming Indians website with 3 years warranty. It's a true 24 inch monitor & has all the required inputs. Seems to me like a far better deal than this monitor.

DesiiJi, When it comes to performance - one wouldn't mind spending an extra 2k. But some people are very budget restricted and at the same time I couldn't recommend them some bad monitors right?
And BTW, desiji I'm not the one who is looking for monitor - I'm more than happy with my beautiful gorgeous GLOSSY Dell sp2208WFP (of course with some little glitch over TN and non-FULL-HD res).

The reason why I started this thread is to KNOW THE BEST MONITOR FOR A PARTICULAR PRICE RANGE to recommend my friends.

    Like BEST MONITOR for <7K | <8.5K | <10K | <12.5K | <15K | <20K | <25K

As of now, I've shortlisted these monitors too
    Benq
    E2200HD - Rs :11,335.00 (its available for around 9K too, I guess)
    E2400HD - Rs :15,277.00
    G2412HD - Rs :13,306.00
    G2410HD - Rs :12,813.00

    Samsung
    2233SW (Better than E2200HD says techtree.com) - Rs :10,250.00
    Samsung 2033SW - Rs :7,639.00

NOT PRETTY SURE ABOUT S2409W or any other DELL monitors. I've got FED up of these DELL MONITORS (no one's revewing them nowadays) - This was the same reason why I didn't buy E248WFP - I wasn't sure whether it'll good enough for the money.

With Dell, you need not rely on reviews. When I bought Dell 198WFP, there were no reviews and still went ahead and bought, purely based on trust with Dell and since then have recommended Dell displays to many and am yet to find a unhappy Dell monitor user.

Moreover, when you get a Premium Panel certified, there is nothing you need to think about.

Among those that you listed, I would pick G2412HD or Samsung 2233SW.

    <7K : Dell 1909W, Samsung 943 SWX

    <8.5K : Samsung 2033SW for 7.2k

    <10K : BenQ T2200HD

    <12.5K : Samsung 2233SW
    <15K : Dell 2409W
<20k: there are some LG TV+LCD models in 26" and 30". Check for them as they come with analogue tv port, composite and HDMI and give HD resolution.

Look up on YouTube & you'll have CNET's official video review for Dell S2409W monitor.

24 inch wide + TN panel = not a good idea, you will see discoloration on edges when sitting in front of the monitor as the viewing angle is max on edges. 2408WFP is a good choice if one thinks of 24 inch monitors.

Worse thing is a 16x9 full HD 24inch TN panel monitor, I saw a Dell and it was Yuck!!! I can imagine what other brands are offering..definitely noting better.

A sweet spot will be a 22inch 16x10 LCD from Samsung/LG/Dell/Viewsonic. Approx cost from 10k-13k

@ethan_hunt & Desiibond - I wouldn't call those are reviews. Of course, I haven't clicked that youtube link (bandwidth consious) and that reviews.dell.com too (aren't those user reviews???)

I'm telling about professional reviews of dell are scarce for recent models.

@tarey_g - you are perfectly right about that discoloration on edges. That applies not only for 24" monitor, but also 22". My Dell sp2208wfp looks awesome when u have a 90 degree viewing angle, but when u see the edges i.,e four corners - there will be slight variation in color/brightness.

So no problem in settling in for a 24" TN panel.

tarey_g, Dont mistake me for the below statement.

Guys, DONT bother about tarey_g's arguement about 24" being dull at corners. You know what's your budget - you can't settle in for a IPS/VA panel 24" at present situtation.

MY RECOMMENDATION - GO FOR A FULL HD RESOLUTION (I hadn't heard anybody's advice on this and i feel like i'm missing something) AND DON'T BOTHER ABOUT THE SIZE TOO - NO MATTER IT IS 21.5" / 22" / 23.5" / 24" as long as you get a full HD
Also that 16:9 isn't a problem. The desktop doesn't look stretched down to 16:9 (as i had thought) but the applications & windows will be filled onto the screen.

Take a look at the site ZOL that I had mentioned in this thread to see the pictures of monitors in action...

Which model was that? Because I remember watching a Dell 24 inch in Croma a year back & it literally made me want to buy that monitor then & there. The price was 24k back then & I clearly remember the person informing me it was a TN panel & not the Ultrasharp version. The viewing angle was perfect too. So not every 24 inch with TN panel is a bad idea.

You wouldn't call a CNET review a professional one without even checking it out? :|

Your choice mate. Sometimes not every product has a "professional" review on the Internet & that's when you have to rely on user reviews.

@emmarbee, most of the times, user reviews will be bang on target. That the place you will find the genuine +ves and -ves of a product.

for example, I rely more on thinkdigit forum members inputs than on digit reviews.

@ethan, that should be Dell 248WFP

allwyn, I did not check the model code, it was in display with whole dell setup (Pune dell showroom, shukrwar peth) and not to be sold differently, it was a 16x9 full HD 24 inch panel. I went to the showroom to get a dell monitor as Dell has stopped selling monitors directly to customers (very strange, I just had called Dell toll free number 7 days ago ) . The discoloration on the edges was easily noticeable.

:), even I am a budget buyer and was looking for 24inch panels for cheap, but I didn't want to buy a 24 inch which will nag me whole time in future  , that's why I settled for the 22 one. I wud still suggest anyone who is gonna buy 24 TN to first go and see the monitor in person.
My friend has Dell 24 inch IPS which he bought for 32k more than a year ago and its a visual treat.

btw. Good news, i have bought Viewsonic VX2240 22inch 16x10 monitor for 10.2k and I am loving it :D .

The only thing is TN panels are cheaper and hence are more popular! That's why companies hardly are interested in making IPS or VA panel monitors! Expensive, so wouldn't sell much! Samsung recently launched their new 70 series monitors! All TN panels! Boring!!! :???: :???:

Are you sure it was this monitor?

I'm about to buy this one. A lot of people who have purchased it have said it's really good. But you're right about one thing: "I wud still suggest anyone who is gonna buy 24 TN to first go and see the monitor in person."

Unfortunately, I'm not sure what chances I have to see this monitor in action in Mumbai.

TN panels are not entirely to blame here. Even before there were these 22" and 24" panels which had superb quality, though they were expensive.

for example, take 248WFP and 2408WFP. They used to have terrific quality.

Thanks to the entry of cheapo-grade-panel monitors from BenQ and other companies, these top brands Dell, Samsung had to bring down the quality of TN panel to give monitors at similar price point.

and yes, you will definitely find difference in quality if you put 248WFP and 2409WFP side-by-side.
