There is a hell of a performance increase in the 1GB and makes it more feasible at higher resolutions, more than 1920x1200
bro they are not selling 1gb model of 4870
1GB HD4870 is not available in india .....AFAIK ..all these fancy models(including sonic versions and others ) will only come by november/december in india ....not before ....but i may be wrong ...HD4870 512MB DDR5 is good enough ...infact its the best VFM u can get ...

But once it comes here, do get it if u're planning to buy a HD 4870, cause it offers quite a startling increase in perfromance....

oh that was a nice link ....it shows how ATI 4870 1Gb simply shatters ...GTX260 core 216 .......for nvidia nothing is going right ....whatever they do it boomrangs back ...and hit them harder ....
