I think that MoBo needs to be changed. Better get Gigabyte GA-785GMT-UD2H for 3.6k. Cut down on the speakers.
The asus board has only 2 RAM slots where as this gigabyte boatrd has 4 RAM slots.

Thanks.
(I dont need a speaker anyway.)
What if I prefer a Intel i3 processor, then what should be the mobo?

Intel SB i3 combo:
*i3-2100 -- 6k
*Intel DH67BL -- 5.5k
Total -- 11.5
Though old version of i3 is available but this is what u should get if u r opting for i3. Its much better.

If u want old model then:
*i3-540 -- 5k
*Asus P7H55M-LX -- 3.6k
Total -- 8.6k
else
*i3-540 -- 5k
*Gigabyte GA-H55M-UD2H -- 4.3k
Total -- 9.3k
But Athlon X4 suggested in the above posts would be much better than this old model i3.

It costs 1.2 k more and hence OP will have lot less left to invest in a GPU

Exactly, OP get the config with the AMD chip. It's lot better and cheaper. If you want to go for Sandy Bridge it's better if you could stretch your bidget a little.

Then you may save some on the Speaker and go for - 1) Better Sound Card= Asus XONAR DX @3k
2) Better GPU= AMD 56xx(4500 to 6000

Cool Buddy

Wise Old Owl
I would suggest HD5670 for GPU, 5450 is a wastage of money. If you can't get 5670, better skip GPU and go for 880G based mobo

What if I prefer a Intel i3 processor, then what should be the mobo?
if u prefer spending more money for negligible performance increase than it is ur wish.

look here:

config 1
amd athlon II x4 640 @ 4600 (4 cores)
Asus M4A78LT-M LE @ 2600
HD 5670 @ 5000
Total = 12,200

this is better than old gen core i3-540 (2 cores)

config 2
intel core i3-540 @ 5.2k
Asus P7H55M-LX @ 3.8k
hd 5670 @ 5k
total = 14,000

and if u want new gen core i3-2100 (better processor than above both but costs more. mobo costs more too)
config 3
intel core i3-2100 @ 6.2k
Intel DH67BL @ 5.6k
total = 11,800 (no gfx card here)

Config 1 will perform "overall" better unless u increase ur budget.

thank u and have a good day.

This config is perfect. u can go for it.

Hi debarshi, welcome to TDF. I, too think, you should go with the AMD quad core config instead of investing a dual core Sandy Bridge i3 rig because the type of applications you've mentioned, a quad core is better suited for your need. Also at your budget, AMD offers you the best possible rig as you are getting a dedicated HD 5670 graphics card. It is capable enough to handle your light gaming needs.

And in Kolkata market, the prices for the Ram, HDD and the processor are really lower than the mentioned price. So go with d3p5kor's suggestion with a 785G chipset based motherboard and probably you will get everything within budget.

I've used Soundblaster VX 5.1 & Audigy value 7.1, before getting Xonar DX...
Soundblaster VX 5.1 doesnt have any improvement in SQ over the onboard audio..
But Audigy value 7.1 ~ 1.3k is better than onboard audio...

May be OP can opt for this too. Thanks Manju, i just lost myself with the budget.
