My computer running on Win98 cannot find the CD Drive though its installed correctly. Even I cannot find it in the CMOS setup. What to do?

I changed some settings in BIOS like first boot device,pasword,advance settings so that my PC boot up fastly.But everytime i start up d machine each time it shows default settings n this takes so much time to boot up! Also the time is incorrect each time...Whn i search 4 d error i came 2 know...

I have two MOBO which use intel 810E chipset. The problem is whenever I start these machines everytime I have to go to the CMOS setup. After resetting the date & time, IDE Configuration and CPU PnP Setup the systems run properly. why is this happenning? Tell me a solution.
