CMOS CHECKSUM ERROR :

Hey Friends, my friend has a problem.
Whenever he restarts his PC he gets this error msg: 'CMOS CHECKSUM ERROR'. And he has to set the date to current which always is restored to the installation date.

What could be the problem???

Well I myself have heard about such problems resulting to Mother-Board damage? What should he do?

Can it be because of a damaged CMOS battery. It's cheap to buy. But I didn't want to try this thinking if anything could go wrong!

Well more important: Can the motherboard get damaged in time due to such a prob?

theres no need to worry its simple
it'll only reset ur bios ... thats abt it.

It can happen if you have removed the battery and put it after sometime. If you have removed it and replaced then you have to enter the BIOS and exit once. Else you need to change the battery .
