Indian Railways - The Vibrant and Moving INDIA
I am already having Windows laptop and desktop. More or less all brands are same IMO.
The new laptop would be for my wife and gonna buy apple macbook air M1 now.

Can someone please tell me difference between MGN63ZS/A vs MGN63AB/A models.
Both are 256, 8gigs, 13 inch, space gray models. Price is also same.
Couldn't find the difference myself.
VivoBook series is the low end series of ASUS whereas ZenBook series is the higher end/premium end series of Asus.
Obviously you need to shell out more money for purchasing the ZenBook series.

YOUR BUDGET!!!
YOUR CHOICE!!!

@omega44-xt What do you think about galaxy book 4?

What is difference between 150U and 1255U? Which one is better for Running software like CubeIDE(Based on eclipse), Android studio, Visual Studio and development on ThreadX. Wont be doing any gaming at all.
Overall do you think there any other alternatives in this budget range?(75-85K)? I would like a thin and light laptop easy to carry which is why I don't like gaming laptops.

Check some reviews of the laptop.

IMO c5 120U should be enough as all 4 seems similar enough (same core config & architecture), newer might be a bit more efficient.

IMO look into HP pavilion plus with 7840U & HP aero 13 with 7735U.

7840U should easily be the most powerful CPU but do find the relative performance of c5 120U against 7735U/6800U.

Check some reviews of the laptop.
Reviews seem good enough to my liking.

*nanoreview.net/en/cpu-compare/intel-core-i7-1355u-vs-intel-core-7-150u
According to this benchmark, 150U is better than 1355u

HP pavilion plus with 7840U has better IO then HP aero.
Any other good offerings in your mind with 7840U?

Also, Are P series with good cooling available in non gaming laptops/work laptops?

I am also looking at Asus Zenbook series, However I dont have any liking of oled. So any suggestions there? They have an version with AMD 7730U available.

I have doubts about that website but the Cinebench R23 numbers seem realistic.

It seems Intel 12th gen & later have better SC perf but multicore perf is similar across CPUs being considered, i.e i5/i7 U & older R7 7730U. Not sure of weird Geekbench numbers for 7840U but I have no doubt it is a step above any other U CPU from Intel in all respects except availability.

IMO get AMD as battery life is better as well although Intel did improve efficiency in latest CPU (core ultra) & AMD's Zen4 CPUs seem less efficient than older ones (7840U vs 7730U) but is still good.

Zenbooks are considered good, check reviews & check extended warranty prices as well.

Notebookcheck has some numbers:

I was looking for the 2024 version of zenbooks, Apparently they have not yet launched in india(?) because no AMD models are available and only a single spec is available. Also they are not available on amazon/flipkart. Plus it has a very huge price tag.

I am willing to wait for Zenbook 2024 models if they bring AMD zen 4, any Idea when it is going to launch in India?

New models are always overpriced when newly launched. Your call if you want to wait till Sep/Oct for a decent price cut & potentially more 7840U options.
I am willing to wait till August end. Any idea about how much prices will be impacted by then? Any chance of it to come below 80K?

Can't say, companies are trying to push for higher prices on all consumer products.

There's a summer sale this weekend. I think Independence day has some sale as well in Aug, but biggest deals will be in pre-Diwali sale.

What do you think of this @omega44-xt ?
The touch screen and pen are completely useless for me, I only need R9+3050 combo. Any other laptop in your mind with similar configuration?

Expensive but you are paying the premium for the size. Your call if you really need something very compact. I don't think there's anything else like this. Some R7 7840U 13" laptop might have similar performance or outperform it, but don't see any at that price, still 3050 at even 40W will be good vs iGPUs.

Obviously a proper gaming laptop with 4060 will be miles better in gaming.

@RumbaMon19 , why not wait for Laptops with QUALCOMM Snapdragon X Elite processors/systems?
Read that they will be very sleek and light compared to todays model.
They(Snapdragon) demand that they are miles and way ahead than Apple M3, Intel & AMD processors in Performance.

Of course If you are onto GAMING then that is a different league altogether.

Only CON which I read and see that the Snapdragon X Elite/X Plus demands a PREMIUM price, CURRENTLY!!!

That will come down by next year,Hopefully.

ARM chips might not have full compatibility with x86 apps. Microsoft is working on Prism which will be an x86 to ARM translation layer similar to what Rosetta does for Apple but it remains to be seen whether performance will be 1:1 with native x86 systems.

This was attempted previously by microsoft as well (half arsed attempt). There is no incentive for developers to natively support native ARM unless microsoft pushes for ARM heavily. This is why for apple, it worked, because Rosetta was always a temporary means until the last intel macs (2019) go OOS.

I see a lot of laptops with LED and FHD displays. Are they as good as IPS or same as TN panels?
I'm not into gaming.

LED is backlight technology.
FHD is screen resolution
Both IPS and TN panels can have these 2.
So check if the screen is an IPS or TN panel.
If you've narrowed down to a certain model, then call the tech support of the brand and confirm it.

You can get clarity on 2 things to make you final decision.
1: obvious one, panel type
2: How good is the after sales technical support? If the tech support is not good. Don't buy. Because if something goes wrong, you'll be at the mercy of the tech support.

HP has 15days DOA period for manufacturing defects in India. Other brands may have a different DOA period.
