1. What is the purpose of the computer? What all applications and games are you going to run? (Stupid answers like 'gaming' or 'office work' will not work. Be exact. Which games? Which applications? Avoid the word 'et cetera.')
Ans: Multi-media purposes, Programming and casual gaming .. like skyrim.

2. What is your overall budget? If you can extend a bit for a more balanced configuration, then mention this too.
Ans: 15-17k

3. Planning to overclock?
Ans: No

4. Which Operating System are you planning to use?
Ans: Windows 7/8

5. How much hard drive space is needed?
Ans: 500GB Minimum

6. Do you want to buy a monitor? If yes, please mention which screen size and resolution do you want. If you already have a monitor and want to reuse it, again mention the size and resolution of monitor you have.
Ans: No.. Already have one.

7. Which components you DON'T want to buy or which components you already have and plan on reusing?
Ans: Planning to buy all components needed for a CPU. Preferably Intel proccy over AMD. Dedicated GPU is a must.

8. When are you planning to buy the system?
Ans: 1-2 weeks

9. Have you ever built a desktop before or will this be done by an assembler?
Ans: No..

10. Where do you live? Are you buying locally? Are you open to buying stuff from online shops if you don't get locally?
Ans: Hyderabad. Yes, buying locally... if possible online.

11. Anything else which you would like to say?
Ans: This is the first time i'm building a desktop... All i need is a CPU that can come under 17k.. rest of the peripherals like monitor, keyboard , speakers and stuff are already there with me. Please suggest me the best components i can buy at my budget.

Hey dikart, thanks for your suggestions..
But my budget is tight and i can't spend more than 20k..
May be 18k will do it.. can u suggest me the best proccy i can get at this price. Any amd proccy which is more or less equal to the intel is also welcomed but the price shouldn't be more.

I would really want to go with the i3 3210 but then getting a cheaper gpu would do it ...
Can all of these components be upgraded in future?? Especially proccy,gpu,ram..

At your budget thats the best you can get.

G2010 is based on latest Ivybridge.
Sapphire HD6670 1GB GDDR5 is the most vfm gpu available in market supporting Microsoft DirectX v11. So imo you should not cut this out and buy a lower priced gddr3 cards.

Which monitor are you using?Mention its size and resolution.
Which games are you going to play?

I'll suggest go for i3 rig leave graphic card now as you mentioned CASUAL gaming can be done with igpu too. you can add graphic card in future.
if you cant extend your budget to 20k
then go for pentium.

Nope....after the launch of haswell (which comes with a different socket type) ivybridges will be phased out and an upgradation of processor should be accompanied by an upgrade in mobo.

So if u want an upgradable pc you should increase your budget and consider amd alternatives with am3+ socket type.

^^ Agreed. If you want future compatibility then AM3+ Motherboard along with a FX series processor is the way to go. But for accomodating those, you need to increase budget.

Okay guys, i'm now also interested in the amd fx series... can u ppl mention all those components now which i will need to make my pc ready.
Well i'm asking for the list of stuff i need to buy along with their local shop prices which will be easy for me to go out and buy them all.
I also wanted to know by how much my budget needs to be increased to accomodate the amd mobo and proccy.

Collector
AMD A4 5300 3.4GHz 3k
MSI FM2 A55 E33 3.3k //or cheaper one from gigabyte - hard to find FM2 socket board as its new
Sapphire HD6670 1GB GDDR5 5K //- you can first try HD 7480D that comes with the CPU
Corsair value select 4gb ddr3 1.9k
WD Blue 500GB 3K
Any dvd writer 1K
Corsair cx430v2 2.5k -// you can also look for a cheaper alternative
Local iBall/zebronics Cabinet 1K

total 20k

you can remove cd rom to save 1k and or get a cheaper gpu to shed another 1 and reach around 18k

apart from FX 6300 and Asus M5A97R.2.0 you will need Cabinet, HDD, PSU, 1 or 2 cooling fans, Memory Modules ( DDR3 ), DVD Drive, keyboard+Mouse, Headphone/Speaker and to get all those you need around ~12K minimum .

Okay the fx 6300 and the asus mobo seems to be good if i can get both of them for 13k. The rest i will try to fit into my budget somehow.
I will leave the graphics card aside for now..
Also gollum posted the a4 proccy and mobo, i think it's decent enough to support the 6670. However i'll look into the fx since it's only casual gaming . In future can i replace the fx proccy with an intel i3 or i5 on the same mobo of asus?

get fx 6300 it is best for you and most vfm
IT IS NOT POSSIBLE TO USE INTEL PROCESSOR ON AMD SOCKET BASED MOTHERBOARD.
You can upgrade to fx 8xxx series or whichever processor yet to come with am3+ socket type.
remember while buying your PROCESSOR'S SOCKET AND MOTHERBOARD'S SOCKET MUST MATCH.

if you go with FX 6300 + m5s97 r2.0 then you must have a discrete gfx card.

Alright.. I have extended my budget now and can spend 40k for my PC.

I'm getting the monitor too.. Here's the list of stuff i'm buying.

AMD fx 4100 @ 5900
ASUS M5A97R2.0 @ 7000
Corsair value select 4gb ddr3 1600MHz @ 2100
Corsair value select 2gb ddr3 1600MHz @ 1100
AMD Radeon HD 7750 Asus 1gb gddr5 edition @ 6900
WD Cavier Blue 500gb @ 3500
Asus DVD burner @ 1100
Corsair cx430v2 PSU @ 2700
Cooler Master cabinet elite 361 @ 2000
Asus Monitor 19" LED VE198T 1440x900 HD @ 5200

Total comes close to 37500. fx 4100 is enough for me.. since the performance it provides is satisfiable and 4 cores are good. fx 6300 is way better for a little more with advantage of 6 cores but still.. i'll keep the mobo to upgrade later to a newer fx series.
What else do i need to complete my pc? I have keyboard, mouse. Do i need a soundcard for my cpu or an external speakers connected to it will work?? Also what about network card, bluetooth and other stuff .. need to buy them seperately again?
Please help me with the missing stuff i need to build my computer, this is the first time i'm doing so..
