Once upon a time i was using dial up internet connection by means of an internal modem in my desktop pc loaded with winxp.... In course of time i upgraded my pc and presently i'm using a broadband internet connection by means of an external wifi modem in my win7 os... I want to setup a faxing machine on my pc using 'windows fax and scan'... After rag picking the old internal modem, i fitted it to the PCI of my present pc.... the modem was not properly installed for want of driver.. I searched net for a win7 driver for this modem but couldnt find any... could somebody help me... the driver cd came along with the modem doesnt have a win7 or even win vista driver.... "Modem details: PRIYA PS560PCI-F0"

I guess, chances are low, those modems were from Windows 98SE times, latest at max drivers can be found for Windows XP but I really doubt if once can natively run them with Windows 7 / 8.

I dont know if some expert can shade some light on Virtual OS, can that help in anyway ? Is there any possibility to install driver within Windows XP mode to allow the Modem to work ??

if your processor & mobo support intel vt-d(VT-d enabled motherboards and CPUs for Paravirtualization) or equivalent amd IOMMU then it is simple.if not then i don't think it is possible because in that case guest os can only use pci devices which are recognized by host os which obviously need drivers first.i may be wrong but until someone who has good experience of working with virtual machines claim otherwise consider this to be correct.

Sorry, my bios don't have any vt-d option.
Could somebody here intelligent & kind enough to fabricate a win7 driver, if i give xp driver.
Or how much an internal dial up modem (pci) costs nowadays?

try installing the drivers in compatibility mode for xp, right click > properties > compatibility > choose xp, might work, might not

BMG ftw!!
You need to find the driver for windows 7. There is no other way.

try installing the drivers in compatibility mode for xp, right click > properties > compatibility > choose xp, might work, might not

Wrong. Program compatibility doesn't work in case of drivers.

Have installed scanner, printer and sound card drivers in compat mode for xp while running 7, worth trying for modem, esp when desp enough to try and re-engineer the drivers
